Still working on it. Got the bird's nest in the tree, one butterfly and some coneflowers.

Oh my goodness! My Son-in-law's grandmother just called to tell me how nice the baby shower was. I did a good job, BUT........
  • My daughter was not supposed to be sitting at a head table. (Really?)
  • There are no head tables at a baby shower. (I didn't know that was a given. Is it?)
  • Baby showers are not supposed to have tables. (We wanted tables.)
  • She was ignored at the shower and is very offended. (I stopped at her table and spoke to her. She introduced herself to my sisters and talked with my daughter - what is she talking about? )
  • The cousins wanted to give the baby shower. (Well, give her one then!)
  • If you would have let them give the shower, you would not have had to spend so much money. (It was my choice. I wanted to spend it.)
  • You could have given the money you spent on the shower to the baby. (She has everything that she needs.)
  • Your daughter should have started opening her gifts half-way through the shower so that everyone could have had the chance to look at them. (We started late because people arrived late - graduation stuff, etc.)
  • I didn't get to see all of what she received. (Don't leave early then.)
  • Tell her that she is welcome here, but I will not be coming to her house unless I'm invited. (Well, I don't go over unless I call first.)
  • Call my grandson and tell him what I said. (Okie, Dokie)

Thank you for calling. I hope that we don't hold bad feelings toward one another as we are family. I'm glad you got to come even though it didn't go well for you. Thank you for the gift. We will see you after the baby is born.

Hang up....

Good grief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMW!

That family has some issues!!

I agree - - - Granny, MIL and the cousins need to throw her a shower!

If she wants her grandson to know - she needs to call him and tell him herself.

I cannot even imagine calling and saying any of that to someone..................

If there aren't supposed to be tables at a shower, much less a head table..... how does she know your daughter is not supposed to sit there?

.................
I KNOW! My husband said, "Who was that?!" When I told him, he said, "What is she calling you for?"

She also said, "What do you think about your daughter not having Liz there when the baby is born?" I told her that we don't interfere in the decisions they make in their marriage and we honor any decision they do make. I also told her I wouldn't be there either.

Backing up on this story a bit.....

My SIL's mother went over to my daughter's house (the day after the baby shower) and said, "Your mother was telling me she didn't know if you were going to let her be here when the baby was born."

She was fishing for information!!! Now, no one is going to be there!!! My SIL said he wants no one there because it's their house and it's private. My husband and I agree. So, she will call me when she goes into labor so that we can at least be praying. I'm not really upset about that. I had intended to call my SIL to see if he would be offended that my daughter wanted me there and not his mother too. If he was, which I doubt, I was going to back out anyway.

Renda,
I had no idea this was going to be like this. They've been married 8 years and we have not heard a peep out of his side of the family. Now a baby is coming and the ants are coming out of the wood work. What is up with that?!!! They are talking about moving to Colorado! LOL!

Oh, AND (lol), my daughter's MIL told my husband, at the baby shower, that she told me NOT to buy all the desserts that I bought. She never said that to me. Crazy!!!! I think I don't like them anymore. I was going to invite them to church, but I think I'll let them rot in ......... J/K!!!!

I think I need to go to church tonight - ya think?!!!

I've never heard there are no head tables at a baby shower. Have you ever heard of that? Isn't it personal preference?

*Use the same style for your head and guest tables.
You’ll want to keep the theme constant throughout the entire room. So make sure your guest tables match the head table. All you have to do is use the same item, but make the head table centerpiece a little larger.

*You want the centerpieces to be the "center" of attention, but don’t let them get in the way of conversation.
When your guests are seated at the tables, make sure they can easily see everyone without the centerpiece blocking their view. This also applies for your head table. So if that centerpiece is rather large, consider putting it on a separate table next to the head table.

That wasn't directed toward you, AQP!

I was so calm on the phone. But, I'm really mad right now!

Okay, I feel better. Have to take my rollers out!

Thank you all for letting me vent!!!

Re: PO's Best Christmas Present EVER!!!!!

If you have tables for others, then of course, there can be a head table and why in the world wouldn't the honored guest be AT the head table! Goofy! They've probably only been to baby showers where everyone sits around in a circle!

I'm the MIL and I don't expect at ALL to be in the room while my DIL is having a baby. I'll be at the hospital in the waiting room, but that's it. I didn't want my mom in the room with me when I had my two kids, so I don't even expect it when my daughter has a child.

Probably so. The MIL made a Nascar diaper cake. Well, all righty then. LOL! Okay, that was tacky of me. I'm not a fan of Nascar. LOL!

I really didn't want to be there anyway. It's just the way she went about getting information to see if I WAS going to be there! Good grief! What else is she going to pull? They are already talking about moving away. I would be really upset over that!
