What is posted is obviously not the original. It says so right on the thing.

What the "officials" have all looked at are the original records - probably stored on Microfiche and then converted to digital media when that was invented - so technically, there is probably no original paper document anywhere. Not just for Obama - but for everyone born in the United States. If you lost the one with your footy prints - it's gone baby. There's simply no room to store the papers for every human being born in America.

Those original records probably contain personal medical information that will never be released to the public; just like your personal records and mine. They may even contain some "embarrassing" or outdated comments concerning his "mixed" parentage.

My father-in-law's birth certificate says "Mulatto" for race. His mother was in fact "mulatto" and his father was "a bit more African-American." People of "mixed" race have had to put up with a lot of confusing nonsense over the years when it comes down to their personal identity. Polite people don't grind their heels in the issue. I can only imagine - no, I don't have to imagine... I've heard a lot of the stuff that BHO probably would like to just let settle in the past.

With all due respect to you, and I do respect you as you are one of the most brilliant minds on this forum (or any other), but to lift a quote I got from you because it is a great quote, (concerning Genesis) "We are not asking what God could have done, but rather what DID He in fact do." (or similar to that).
You are using "probably's" and "may" and then trying to fill in the blanks for them. Let them fill in the blanks. I do not subscribe to the notion he is in fact foriegn born, but due to the reluctance to put it behind them and the battery of lawyers they have employed to not produce the requested document(s), does make me wonder. If it was legit and an original, just present what is being asked and put the "birthers" out of buisness.
I know I would. Who cares? Everyone knows I was born and the highest office in the land or world, carries a certain element of stature that should not have to go through this. Just do it!
I personally believe he is intentionally allowing the questions to remain because it is part of the aganda to minimize "fringe" elements (traditional Americans) and further divide us. But then again, I am not paranoid...and neither am I.

How? He requested it, the State of Hawaii released it to him, he released it to the public. Which one of those actions broke the law?

I have to use some "probablys" and "maybes" because frankly, I have not seen BHO's original documents. I have seen mine, and I was born in the same year as BHO - so I imagine his stuff looks somewhat like mine - but I can't be certain.

I do know however, they are not going to release his medical records without his specific permission. He has released recent medical check ups - and that admonition to "quit smoking all together" was repeated ad infinitum.

The fact that he has been so coy about everything from his past associations with radicals like Bill Ayers (they shared the same office for three years!) to his college and post grad writings and all reveals something that I consider to be unsettling about his character.

I've tried to understand his desire to be covert about his birth records by comparing his circumstances (being of "mixed race") and the details that I know about my own family. This, I think, is helpful - but it doesn't really cover the material from his later life like his associations with Ayers.

On a similar matter... US Supreme Court nominee Elana Kagan has been described as "not having a paper trail..." Yet she served in Bill Clinton's Counsel Office and was responsible for some pretty important investigations - like the leaks from the White House Environmental Policy Office to radical environmentalists that endangered the lives of US Forest rangers. (She took the "investigation" straight to the curb).

She has tens of thousands of memos and other legal documents that she wrote that would reveal a lot about her legal outlook in Bill Clinton's Presidential Library in Little Rock. Will the Senate be allowed to see that? Will they only be allowed to see the docs vetted by Clinton's people? Will they be allowed to see anything at all from her tenure in the White House's legal office?

I think that it's time we all moved past the "birther" debate and engaged these people on more substantive issues, that's all. So far they've been getting away with murder while we all rehash stuff that should have been discarded a while ago.

I don't think you're "paranoid." It's natural to be curious about the President (any President) and his (or her?) background.

Bowas said, "maybe." And, I don't know if Bowas is familiar yet with the pedigree of the Birth Certificate that was made public.

If the State of Hawaii or the County of Honolulu had released it just to make everybody leave them alone, then that would have been wrong. But the birth certificate I linked to is a pic of the one released by the Obama campaign before the election. (You know that Twispy, but now everybody does).

I concur. This Birther movement is a distraction from energies that could/should be spend on issues that can be affected, such as Elana Kagan. When they say she does not have a paper trail, what they mean is what they do have, they do not want it released until after the confimation. Diversion is an effective tactic in any confrontation where one is attempting to keep the opposition in a state of confusion or disunity.
