Re: church in houston is charasmatic

Thank you dear brother ben.nebula for expressing your heartfelt concern over that terrible cruisematic church in Houston..

If not for strong voices such as yours crying out like the prophets in the Old Testament the UPC would be doomed to slide down that "slippery slope" much like UPC kids in blue jeans on a slippy slide at a summer birthday party.

Only a pity that rather than just telling the usher what you thought you didn't express your rightous indignation loudly and clearly to the entire congregation and pastor so they could know the error of their ways.

Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your report card on Pentecostal churches you visit.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: church in houston is charasmatic

Well, I think we've all been duped! I did learn one thing from this thread. Don't post until you've read all the posts. This sucker....I mean brother, knows too much and acts too dumb to be "for real!" He, or she, or it, does a pretty good job of mispelling (how's that for misspelling) his words.

I'm praying that God will reveal to, let's see, yea.... Timmy, ..... who this really is. Isn't Timmy the likely one to have a revelation such as this? God bless Timmy! Come on Timmy we're waiting on you and praying for you. You can do it!

Renda, I'm praying for your bad spirit. You might be able to get a position in Houston leading worship at a certain Charasimatic (ben.nebula is that how you spell that word?) church.

And boy, I'm worried about having to read ben.nebula's testimony. That will take awhile. Renda, Maybe you could get it from him and punctuate it and correct the spelling for him. Just a thought!

Just Been Thinkin.

My dyslexia coupled with my crippling ADHD has prevented me from reading this entire thread... but has it been determined that "the woman with the short hair" who had troubled "neb" so badly was actually a cancer survivor?

Naw, hypothetical..
He is saying that a woman who survived cancer should wear a wig, as not to confuse new visitors to the church. Wouldn't want the visitors to think that the church allows hair-cutting parties like that one pastor in Oklahoma.
