I don't believe sickness is punishment but is a result of sin. Genetic defects as a result of substance abuse, intermarriage between family members, incest, molestation, any number of issues. Some environmental with the use of pesticides, pollution, medical and genetic engineering.

Bro. CS, you may have already given scripture but where do you find God using disease and sickness for chastisement? I know, as in the case of the blind man, that Jesus said that neither he, or his parents had sinned but that the glory of God could be made manifest...

Respectfully, Rhoni

Me:

Sin can bring down sickness as judgement.

14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John 5:14

27: Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29: For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
30: For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31: For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1 Cor. 11:27-31

Not just sickness but death also as in verse 30.

Dont forget the immediate judgement unto death of Anannias and Saphira.

Yet this does not mean ALL sickness is due to sin.

How can we know? Have we sinned? If we have not its not chastisment. Its either a trial or simply as already stated we live in a fallen world things happen.

The words were spoken by Elihu in part of a longer passage that covers all of Job 32-37. Interestingly, God was silent with regard to what Elihu said as opposed to what Jobs three friends had said.

I don't believe sickness is because of sin either, but, like everything else in life, it's the result of sin entering the world.

Now it's called 'part of life'.

I also agree that sickness can be chastisement from God.

Some people are simply sick aside from the Spiritual Aspect also.

If any of us were to have been in the Firefighting brigades at Chernobyl, we would not be posting here Saint or Sinner.
