Re: "Lukewarm" christians
I believe you can sit on a pew every sunday and still be lukewarm.

I can't find in the letter to the Church in Laodicea what the Lord meant by hot or cold. It seems like he just defined lukewarm. Can you post scripture please, where it says that cold is dry, boring or dead? Maybe it's in a different letter?

I'm defintely not trying to provoke anything here, nor am I talking about standards. I just want to know what a luke warm christian means so I know what not to be.

You cannot hide a bad taste in something that is served at 76 degrees F. But you CAN if it is ice cold or scalding hot.

Hmmm, how interesting and true.

18I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
So, apparently it's Christians who are self-satisfied. Ones who acknowledge God with their mouths, but in their hearts barely give him a thought. Claim to be Christian, but in their hearts rely solely on themselves.
That is what I get from the passage. I'm interested in hearing other viewpoints.

Or maybe it is also christians that believe they already have all the answers so they have therefore stopped seeking. No spiritual growth at all, they have become comfortable with who they are and are not willing to change. Like a pool of water that has become stagnant.
