The breakdown of the 46 million is instructive, includes 20-35 years old that don't want to pay for overage, many poor that are already covered by Medicare and then many illegals. Which actually leaves only about 12 million uncovered, these of course can go to any emergence room for immediate care. So the urgency is politically generated. At least this is what I have read.

Not sure on the numbers crakjak, but that's my understanding too.

If there's nothing amiss, why is there such a big rush to pass this fiasco?

Very correct. We have within the uninsured 10 million which are between policies and will have coveratge after months. Some folks are unemployed and will have coverage when they get back to work or recalled.

The Mexicare ryder would cover day surgeries for tourists?

I had relatives that visited mexico and when we saw our relatives there, they had dental work done. Dentures under 100 bucks. Had a Mennonite cousin that ran a 7 bed hospital near Cuauhtemoc

Power and control. skimming revenue is how Medicare works.
If you collect 200 billion in premiums, that money can cover cash flow until you need a surgery 5 or even 18 months from now.
I have many thousands of dollars in unemployment insurance in my state UNEmployment insurance fund. These dollars have been gathered since 1973
The account will never be sopent, but the state dips into those acounts to finance projects or even "cover" unemployment benefits for companies that laid off thousands and were under funded.
Health care national accounts will grow by gathering of premiums and by taxing benefits and employers. It is kinda like embezzlement. Some one is "using another persons money" without their consent.

Re: Obama is told no

Old Democratic presidential aspirant John Edwards won $175 million in judgments over a 12-year period suing doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, everyone but the candy stripers, over infant cerebral palsy cases allegedly caused by mishandled deliveries.
As the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists noted in a study in 2003, cerebral palsy could not be blamed in the “vast majority” of cases on delivery trouble. Edwards enriched himself by using bad science to bankrupt innocent physicians. …
The accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers says about 10% of the cost of medical service is attributable to medical malpractice lawsuits. Roughly 2% is caused by direct costs of the lawsuits; an additional 5% to 9% is due to expenses run up by defensive medicine.

Something about an x-ray to make sure a sponge was not left inside. saves about a million in litigation but costs 120 bucks on up. Defensive medicine. Obama won't touch tort reform

If he wanted to save money, he would get his torts in a knot over how much medicine spends on insurance etc.
