Re: Diet Soda Cake?!?!?!

I had to bake the cake again... I found that adding 4 egg whites with the can of diet soda makes it more like a normal cake. Much better in my opinion.

Re: Diet Soda Cake?!?!?!

I just baked one of these with Diet 7-UP and a spice cake mix. I did add two egg whites, and it just came out of the oven, but it looks like the texture of brownies. But that's ok - I love brownies too! Even if they are spice brownies. I have mixed up some fat free Cool Whip with vanilla and cinnamon to put on top when it's cool. I'll let you all know what we think in a bit!

Re: Diet Soda Cake?!?!?!

Ok, this is a REALLY good low fat/low calorie dessert!! I kind of wished I had done the chocolate because it would have been even more amazing. That will be my next effort. But the spice cake is really good too.

I actually messed up and only used 8 oz. of 7-Up instead of 12, which I didn't realize until I pulled out the 16 oz. bottle to drink the rest of it! So the texture was a little more like brownies than cake, but it was still really good!

Re: Diet Soda Cake?!?!?!

this is really a good low fat/calorie option. Adding egg whites is really helpful b/c otherwise it's so soft you cant do anything with it but eat it out of the pan LOL

Re: Diet Soda Cake?!?!?!

So the egg whites are an ADDITIONAL ingredient and not taking the place of something else??? Want to make this, but I need to know that big important point!
