Howdy All,

I am checking in from youth convention where the predominent theme has been "holiness". You would not EVEN believe some of the junk that has come over the pulpit here.

Last night the speaker told the teens they need to go to bible college. He stated that parents should push them to this, and that if parents choose secular college over bc they are wrong. He also stated that kids and parents should be proud if the highest level of education they receive is a GED.

I was a little bit more than upset.

Oh, we've also had a preacher call Anna Nicole a whore from the pulpit.

I'm so thankful for the in depth teaching they have been receiving.

I think this type of "preaching" is uncalled for. Especially when none of our bible colleges ar accredited. He is basically saying "throw your life away".

I think I'll just keep my mouth shut before I get myself in real trouble.

I'll just say this: I strenuously object to this sort of "preaching" (RANTING), especially to impressionable young people.


Maybe clearing someone's sermon before they preach isn't such a bad idea afterall....

Upsetting to who? Youth that did not pay attention at the local church, who did not discuss what was said back home.

Then upsetting when someone starts their own Youth Meetings?....... same situation as in California!

I ask that you do not provide anything more specific to identify your location or the speaker.

If the discussion is valid, it is valid based on the content not as a backdrop for a BBQ pit.

How different ones use an amplifying sound system to influence little ones in God from within a group setting is an important discussion. The setting is jam-packed with opportunities for one man to influence those who are often weak and impressionable.

One specific name will likely just derail the discussion to a dog-pile with nothing good coming from it.

I have to think you are just lying about this. I mean I am constantly told that the UPC is not about that kind of preaching anymore!!!

Why are you spreading the stereotype that no longer exists?
