Where Bill? Where did you try to be civil? Did you do it in this post?

Sorry, Bill, you weren't civil in this post. Do you even know what it means to be civil? No, Bill, after the above quote you leave the subject of the thread and start to attack my beliefs on Eschatology? In which as far as you're concerned, you have changed your view too many times to keep count.

Yet, you are not the bit ashamed, no problem for you Bill, you just jump up on the dinner table with the lampshade on your head and do the Cabbage Patch, in front of God and man with no embarrassment whatsoever.

You know Bill, I just don't know what to say.

A Catholic doctrine? How so Bill? Since when has the Roman Catholic Church accepted a total fulfillment of the book of Revelation? That's news to me Bill.
Roman Catholics and Eastern Greek Orthodox still believe that Revelation is yet to be fulfilled.

Farewell, Bill, until next year when you become a Baptist, Muslim, or maybe a Mormon? Hey, Bill a Mormon! It's really cool out in Utah, and they have scones with honey butter! Yummy, yummy!

May the Lord help you.

Good thing his split personality doesn't lock up and all the different theologies and eschatologies come out of Bill all at once. He would be making blogs and shutting down web sites at light speed. Calling himself a heretic, and a reprobate, a non-brother. It would not be pretty.

Seriously, the Catholics instituted our wafer snack called "Communion". The original deal was the "Lord's Supper". If we see it beyond the realm of "sacrament" we realize that the supper was essentially what was talked about when the Bible says that they "broke bread". Eating together in biblical times established a very deep bond and generated a "household of faith" mentality. The words of Paul in I Corinthians 11 indicates that this "supper" was not only a full meal, but very symbolic. There was "one loaf" signifying the single body of our Lord. As it was passed from hand to hand, it was torn apart to provide sustenance, as was the body of our Lord to provide our spiritual life and salvation. There was also a singular cup from which the wine, real wine, was poured signifying that only the blood of the Holy One of Israel could provide salvation. In it they looked back to the last supper of our Lord with the disciples and his sacrifice...in it they also looked forward to the day when they would attend the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Much of the full meaning of the "Lord's Supper" has been lost to us through the sacramentalism of the Catholic "communion" that we observe.

There is the Catholic "communion"...and there is the biblical "Lord's Supper". Our anti-Christmas ranting brethren don't realize it...but unless they observe the Lord's Supper as did the Apostles...they have Catholicized perhaps one of the sacred elements of our faith. So I find it detestable that they judge a man over a day and a tree...but much on wafers and grape juice, completely missing what was ordained by the Apostles.

I am NOT putting up a X-tree either.

Now, a Christmas tree is another story.

EB, this is the book of ROMANS. That means it was written to the church in ROME. This was a mixture of Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians. There was an obvious issue with some brethren observing a day while others didn't. Paul offered a very general rule....we do not judge a man based on the cultural significance he has attached to a given day or practice. We don't demand that Apostolics from Hawaii stop wearing traditional garb or celebrating various cultural holidays.

You are wrong, that would contradict the edict that was given in Act 15:20 Act 15:29 and was repeated in Act 21:25. Paul was upholding the edict, what you read in Romans is Paul working with the two groups, one group the Gentiles who had to give up their pagan practices, and another group Jews who had to continue in the Law until the destruction of the temple.

It has nothing to do with a grass skirt.
