Re: Bailout Bill
Sam,
It's a shame and a sham job. I feel betrayed by my President and believe that my government has failed my family, friends and I.
This bailout is not and will never be free-- no matter how they spin it. It's far more expensive than the 800 billion dollars plus that they are attributing to it.
Things are so bad, but Wells Fargo is buying Wachovia flat out, no govt help.
They are doing this because of their frugality.
Virginia Commonwealth Bank has raised 25 million dollars on their own in recent days to help THEMSELVES through this tough time.
The Bank of Floyd and numerous other small banks around the country are financially sound and UNSHAKEN by the current turmoil. If things were so bad, this really would not be the case.
The bail out bill doesn't even address the current mortgage/foreclosure mess, does nothing to directly affect job loss and, even after passage, the Dow closed down more than 150 points!
There is no guarantee that this bail out will work. There are signs that point that not only will it not work, but that maybe it is unnecessary.
It was refreshing to hear far left Democrats and far right Republicans decrying the foolishness of this bill in a harmony that is seldom ever heard in America.
