Nobody said a word about John Kerry missing votes. As I said. it is a non-issue.
I think that missing 72% of the votes is a issue. But you're still not seeing the crux of what I am saying. Specifically, in this election, the notion that Barack Obama does not vote has been a major talking point on this forum and in other places. In light of the response I have seen to that allegation, it makes the lack of response to this revelation glaring, and it does give me a reference point as to what would have been said if in fact he was the one candidate who was not voting.

No Stew, Barak Obama not voting has NOT been a major issue. VOTING PRESENT HAS..... I cant help it if people are confused about his ILL record and his senate record, but I have been very careful to point this out.

It isnt about him missing votes, it was about him being a coward and not wanting to take a side, or make a decision. THAT has been the point....

and John Kerry missing 74% of the votes was NOT an issue. It wasnt an issue for the democrats NOR was it an issue for the Republicans.

Nor was George Bush turning the state over to the Lt. Gov. when he ran for President in 2000.

Nor was Bill Clinton's turning his state over to his Lt. Gov. when he ran for President in 1992.

Nor was it an issue in 1976 for Jimmy Carter, Nor was it an issue for JFK in 1960

and on and on it goes. This is a TRADITION in American politics that goes back 200 years. This is NOT NOT NOT an issue.

Point taken. I must say that you laid this out rather well.
I still don't know if people here would have been so forgiving if Obama had missed all those votes and everybody else had managed to do their duty in this regard...and yes there has been a lot of confusion as to his voting record.

I promise you, I would have stood up and said this same thing.

this is a point of AMERICAN TRADITION going back to the early days of the Republic.

You are right-that is why I have a question mark after the 176 days-

Hopefully I can rectify my comment with the right source and the correct quote.

Here is what I found:

As of 5/5/08 Obama had 143 days of experience:

Here is the rest of email:

You couldn't get a job at McDonald's and become district manager after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.

You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.

You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience..

You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.

BUT....

From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama thinks he is ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World ... 143 days.

We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start. AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America?

Now I googled Obama 143

Here is what I found:

HillaryClinitonForum-(May 5, 2008) Obama's 143 Days of Senate Experience (The Loft)

TheCitizen.com-Obama's 143 Days of Senate Experience

TheLoft.com Obama's 143 days of expericence

IDK, it seems to be widely known that on 5/5/08 Obama had 143 days of experience.

I find this one particularly interesting because it is fellow Dem's talking about Obama! In a not so kind manner I might add-
