Republicans make appearances at churches too, usually Pentecostal ones from what I have heard.
Let's not even go to the culture thing. That was a long time ago. Get over it and move on.

I have to agree. And besides, this is 2008, and the law is the law. Plain and simple.
Subculture, my foot. It's just wrong.

I know I'd be disgusted if my pastor were to be endorsing a politician from the pulpit, or bringing him into church so he can round up the votes among the flock.

But this stuff doesn't belong in church, period. It's just unseemly to me.
(However, since so many of these churches are more like "community centers" than actual houses of God, I guess it doesn't seem unseemly to them to be using the pulpit as a political platform.)

TR, the point is that those churches do not have to endorse specific candidates because there is a standing endorsement of an entire party. I say that this is worse because they do tie the endorsement directly into Christian obligation. The inference that one is not truly Christian unless they vote for a specific party is much worse than any endorsement of any candidate in my opinion. Especially when politicians use this phenomenon to their advantage and garner these moral votes without specific mandates or promises that they can be held accountable for.

Let me just add that you don't see these candidates going to those churches to solicit their vote mainly because it is not necessary. It is a dangerous game when politicians can take your democratic voice and vote for granted.

I think the comments are inappropriate (especially unproven claims of Palin's alledged adultery)-- but not far removed from what I've heard recently in a conservative Apostolic church in which Obama and Biden where refered to as trash from behind the pulpit. Moreover the same minister quoted an urban legend he picked up somewhere asserting that Obama would institute prayer to Allah each day if he where elected.

Yuck.

Whoever that minister is, maybe he needs to spend a bit more time in his prayer closet.

Talking about Palin having an affair on her husband which has not been proven. Going on rumors.

Socialist welfare mentality going after the McCain's that have money. Well, I think we can thank the public school system for some of that ideology being taught.
So much lack of cohesiveness among the religious who need to stick together. I can't believe the ignorance of the statements he used.
