I believe we need to preach to the the reason for the Spirit baptism. It is for far more than talking in tongues. It is in us to LIVE as us and through us. Unless this is taught, one will invariably deal with Christianity in a legalistic fashion.
I have been teaching on this very issue lately in our church.
Legalism is rampant in many Spirit-filled people when the Spirit is there fore the distinct purpose of us not living legalistically. They might as well not even have the Spirit.
Legalism is self making self improve spiritually through keeping rules without God's intervention. GRACE is divine empowerment. And that is why the Spirit is in us. This is the issue that must be taught. People find they cannot cut it and wind up in sin. Teaching them about walking after the Spirit instead of the fleshliness of keeping "rules" will recover many from a downward slide.
So you are teaching how to walk in the Spirit? What are the important points when teaching someone how to hear God's voice and be led of Him?

Maybe this evening. No, got a Bible study tonight (seriously!). Maybe tomorrow. I want to put some time into it. Hoping it won't be just another one of my rants, that some find so tiresome!
Sheesh, overdue again. (Didn't even make it to that Bible study -- worked late.)
Flying to JFK today. Maybe I'll write it up on the plane. Or at the hotel. Or when I get home Friday!

That's one way to backslide...............neglect our relationship with the Lord by staying busy with everything else except seeking God. Eventually one grows lukewarm, before they know it their first love is gone, and the weeds and thorns have choked the word so that it becomes unfruitful.

Yeah, there ya go. Except, in this case, it's neglecting AFF, not God, but good point.
(Typed a bit on the plane, but too cramped. JetBlue has lots of leg room, but not much laptop room!)

Good article, except the young lady in it was disenfranchised with the "church", and took it out on God instead. HE has the answers that matter whereas the church so-often does not.
The "church" (small "c") will always be behind the times when it comes to peoples questions. I myself get especially frustrated when talking to others in the "church" about scientific matters. "If it ain't in the Book, then we don't need to know it!" it the attitude among many. "Well, if it looks old that is just because God made it that way! The Book says it is only 6000 years old....." is an idea that is especially frustrating, but I just let my frustration stay with the person making such ignorant comments -NOT with God.
