you don't get it,
I'm not talking about just someone who comes to our churches, someone we are encouraging to live the life, If you don't have those that don't look the part in your church you aren't growing.
I'm talking about someone they pulled out front as hey, this girl is in entertainment industry and she is an example of you can do it.
Obviously she isn't.
and besides you have all had the conversation apparently

It is common for high profile people to be put before congregations.
Its happened for years in our camps and conferences with politicians and future presidents etc.
Anytime this happens there will be a backlash especially if that person does not fit within our criteria you open yourself up for criticism.
Im sure there were a lot of youth that were thrilled that she was one of them and chooses to live for God in spite of tremendous success. Im sure a lot of them felt a sense of camaraderie with her and went home and told other kids "hey she's one of us"
Let time be the judge of her perseverance to truth.

Here's something for you to really sneeze at, Melody.

Even the officials have agreed that there was a mistake, much discussion as been expressed.

totally different
he is not being heralded as one of "us" and who you want to be.
Be the president if you will, but don't change your value system to get there.

I watched that same girl put her head on a guys leg last weekend IN my living room.... a guy she just started dating... and I was livid... ummm let me see... and there is the little fact about what she says about her Christmas vacation to Florida is.... "what happened in florida stays in Florida"... and I know from her own admission, she is 16 and not a virgin.... oh, but her mom thinks she is an angel. AND... her mom won't let my 17 year old wear PJ pants until it is time to go to bed when she stays all night. Oh,... and the music... I would be having me a bashing CD party.
All my daughter can say is.... this is a sad thing mom... what are people thinking today?? I'm sorry, I don't have an answer.
Outward appearance does not a Christian make... not by a long shot.

This is what happens when you put all your "holiness stock" into hair, no make-up, and no pants. As long as you do (or don't do) those three things, your living a life of Apostolic purity!

do we totally shut everyone out? Really the only difference between a floor and a platform is about 2-4 foot of height.
Hey sometimes we can get burned (recent movie) but the biggest fault i saw here was a genuine concern for somebody's soul. Was that so wrong?
Even if somebody says something that is not quite lined up to truth, is it going to destroy everything that has been taught by dedicated pastors? I think not.

whose soul, our youth that will think it is okay to follow the hollywood dictates of dress? Her soul? Who is teaching her?
and this isn't about her, it is that they used her as a frontrunner? frontrunner of what?

If there wasn't stuff like this going on in the leadership there probably wouldn't be a Tulsa thread
