There is one particular presbyter in MI that could never be described as anything but conservative.

I pointed this out earlier but folks like to just hurl these baseless and ridiculous statements on here that cover districts with 100's of churches in them with some broad brush from their own personal fantasy land.

Trust me, Michigan has many conservative churches in it.

I attend Atlanta West.

To my knowledge, there has been no discussion whatsoever of pulling out of the UPC.

This thread is lacking in substance, unnecessarily speculative, and just plain dumb.

Any organization is defined by the kind of men that both 'run it' and 'populate it'. It can be moderate and balanced only as long as there are a relatively equal number of both parties (cons & libs) involved. When the cons leave... the org MUST become more liberal... that's a fact borne out by numbers and unable to be argued with. If you doubt that, just imagine what the vote would be were it held in March...

The numbers that will remain and the lines they fall across are in fact much more important than the "VERY conservative" man in ________ who has 400 in his church and 200 in his daughter works. The only people who care about those things are those who pastor close enough to feel the heat... LOL

Like it or not (and some will, some won't) the UPCI WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. And as long as you realize that it is not THE church, but rather just a PART of the church, you'll be fine too ;-)
While I agree with some of the things you said, I have to tell you that I don't agree that the organization will become more liberal. Only a very small percentage of the ULTRA conservatives are going to pull out. And many of these were not participating in the organization at all anyway. There are many many conservative pastors who are staying with the upci and do not feel that this res.4 is even an issue in the big picture. These UC's who are beginning this new "fellowship" are simply losing sight of our goal. All of the time and energy wasted on this should be focused towards reaching our world. And I will go ahead and say this, 4 of the "officials" in the wpf, did not even bother to go to general conference and cast their vote. If they had, and just campaigned against it in a very small way, the resolution would not have passed. I think it is obvious then that they WANTED this resolution to pass because NOW they have an "issue" to springboard their "new organization. They wanted their own organization and have for a long time. This was all orchestrated. They were simply waiting for the right "issue" to arise that they could get all of the UC's stirred up over. Power hungry? I think so.

Hmm! Not the first time the thought crossed my path.
