Oneness or Twoness Mailout from Joel Hemphill
We have never gotten any mail before from the Hemphill's, but today we got a packet from Joel, and it was brochures proclaiming Oneness and baptism in Jesus' name, and another one denouncing Trinitarian doctrine. I was a bit surprised, as I didn't know that he held to these beliefs. I haven't heard anything about the Hemphill's in years!

Hmmm...interesting. I knew he once did, but was unaware that he still believed this.
Reg and his wife, Tammi, knew them back in the day...I believe JH's wife is some kin to Vesta Goodman and are all from where Reg is from.

I think you're right about the connection to the Goodmans.

They used to pastor in Bastrop, La...haven't seen them in many years. Yes she was kin to Vestal if I remember correctly.
I didn't know he felt so strong about oneness doctrine. They are very sweet people.

Joel Hemphill is now teaching that:
Jesus is a separate person from God.
Jesus is not God.
Does that make him Twoness?
Or Jehovah's Witness?

Any quotes from him on this?? these are serious charges you are making and you better be able to back it up.

I think Bro. and Sis. Wheat took their church after the Hemphills left it. Is that the same church? I remember them from years ago. I loved "He's Still Working on Me" and "I Came On Business for the King"...."Consider the Lilies"..."I Claim the Blood" ...and my favorite song by the Hemphills: "Master of the Wind".

I remember when the Hemphills came to our ALJC church here in the Cincinnati area. I think it was 1969. They sang and Joel preached for three nights. I really liked their music. They also sang at in local high school auditorium some years back with some other groups.
We have several of their tapes (remember those?). While they were here they sang a song about The Watchman. I've never seen it or heard of it since.
I think Vestal (Freeman) Goodman was LaBreeska's aunt.
TBN shows some of the Gaither videos now and then and some of them have Vestal and Howard on them and some have Joel and LaBreeska. Probably an age thing but I like that kinda music.

Here is a direct quote from him off his website: http://www.trumpetcallbooks.com/trinity_truth.html
"The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is the supernaturally conceived, virgin-born, sinless Son of God; savior, redeemer, Messiah and the only way to God . His name is the only name whereby mankind can be saved. He has been anointed, appointed, approved, empowered and ordained to build a kingdom, which he will reign over on Planet Earth for 1000 years, before he lays it at the feet of God our Father ( I Cor. 15:24-28; Rev. 20:4-7) .
But Jesus is not a human incarnation of Almighty God as the Oneness teach, nor an incarnation of God the Son, second person of a triune God, a pre-existent being, as millions of Trinitarians believe.

Reading some posting here the last two weeks, Joel Hemphill should have a strong following from some members of this forum.
