Getting back to Bro. McN .....
I'll never forget the day in Bible School when I saw this man in anything less than a good mood.
One of the guys in class threatened to throw an egg to one of the girls on the other side of the room. She double dared him to do it so he did. Problem is, she missed the toss and the egg went **SPLAT** running down the wall and we were all like UHOH!!

DJs dad was NOT impressed and got quite perturbed with the students which ended up in them meriting several demerits each and being banished from the room.
The closest I ever saw him come to losing his cool. LOL!

Family Resemblance
Family resemblance
Quote:
A new baby is born and before long is surrounded by Grannie and the great aunts who peer into the still red face looking for a family resemblance. One sees grandfather's eyes, another grandmother's chin, and all claim a direct reflection of their side of the family.
As the child grows, every peculiar mannerism or quirky habit draws a comparison to a favorite memory about mom or dad. A family resemblance is seen in the shape of the facial features, an awkward gait, or a particular talent. Children resemble their parents; they have the "family look."
If you are a born again believer, you are a child of God, and a member of the family of God. Do you resemble your Father? Do you have the family look? Can people look into your eyes and see your Savior? Can they watch the way you walk and see your Father? If they already know your Father, will they see the family resemblance when they meet you?

SERVING GOD THROUGH THE WINTER: The winter season is a divine creation, born of the will and wisdom of our all wise Creator. Winter is a divinely appointed object lesson, a message from God penned with cold white ink. Winter is a season of nature and a season of the soul.
Every believer must serve God through the winters of life. Winter is a season of coldness, barrenness, and bleakness, when we must trust in the providence of God and believe in the promise of Spring. It is a time to live by faith.
Winter is a passing season, not a permanent condition; no matter how long or harsh, every recorded winter has had to surrender to the warmth of Spring. Long nights and cold days will be replaced with sunshine and warmth. Winter is long, but it doesn't last forever.

What a soppy, mushy thread. I guess that's what living in a Socialist State does for people - takes all the fight out of them. I guess the body of Christ needs tear ducts and Hallmark moments as well as a spine and muscles.

Yessiree, every part of the body is important: the heart, the lungs, the liver; the eyes, the ears, the nose; and then there's the bright red boil on the chubby cheek that keeps us from getting too comfortable. Everyone has a part, even purulent posters.

Purulent. That's a big word to come out of a part of the world better known for interbreeding than for education. The only way that a Canadian would ever learn a word like that is while spending a very long time standing in a very long line waiting for their turn at the Public Health Trough.

I have had the wonderful privilege of having HDMcN as my pastor and have many fond memories of him and his wife. What an example they were to us ,prayer was such an important part of their lives ,so glad they were there for us in one of the darkest days in my family's life.
