Oh, wait...you're an ultra con, huh? I forgot UC's can get by with saying stuff like that.

The rest of us would never get away with it. We have to 'soften' it and call it 'cult-like tendencies'.

Usually it's the pastor's wife who thinks up all those silly rules.

I'd heard of them when I was 18, and I wasn't raised in any sort of UPC related church. It's probably the biggest reason that while I was baptized in an UPC church (late on a Fri night) I never did go to one service. I might have saved myself a lot of lost time if I had been willing to go, or at least not so scared it'd be like the churches I had heard about. I also argued long and hard when God picked me up and dropped me right center in an Apostolic church.

Thi type of control freak pastor is not limited to any area of the country, or just in the AMF.

I can't believe some that say they have been in pentecost for however many years and they have never seen or heard of these kind of churches.

I think they truly believe they are doing what they are suppose to and are deceived into thinking anyone that does not agree is in rebellion!

I am FAR from being UC. I am a lib/moderate.

I used to be UC but have no desire to return.

Rules...
1. No talking on the phone for more than 10 minutes
2. No friends outside of church, not even family (it was discouraged strongly)
3. No more than three families at a time in your home and not too often, if you had a gathering you are suppose to ask everyone in the church so no one gets offended.
4. No home bible studies without the ministry being there
5. You must attend all fellowships
6. So lunch dates, or shopping with friends even the ones in church...
7. No important decisions made without consulting the pastor...like, buying a car(new, used, how much you can spend)...same with a home or property.
8. You were not allowed to move, unless you had his OK.

Being we are older we did not attend parenting classes or marriage classes so we missed out on a lot of the rules...but over time we learned. This is not everything, but for the moment its enough...I might add more as I think of them.....

So there ya go Thad....
I know of several families over the years who have actually:
1. Relocated out of state
2. Moved their family, uprooted the kids
3. Found new work and a new home and new schools for the kids
4. Stayed out of state for a couple of years
5. "Relocated" back in state just so that they could transfer out of such church situations.

All of that disruption just to transfer to another church across town or in some cases to another church in another nearby town.
