THe UFC

I had to post this quote froma recent issue of Sports Illustrated in a article on the UFC Randy Couture says, "You're not there to hurt the other guy, its a kinetic chess kind of thing".

That cracks me up. Does anyone think that the UFC or MMA in general will wipe out boxing alltogether?

An interesting fact was that UFC 69 that was held at the Toyota Center was the the highest grossing event ever. The second was the Rolling Stones in 2005.

Not a chance. Apples and oranges. Two very distinct "sports" (yes, MMA is a "sport" just as much as boxing. It will cease to be a sport when the rules allow fishhooking, heel-hooks, eye gouges and, oh yeah....., weapons) each with a solid fan base.

I agree that the MMA bouts are much more fun to watch.

I think the UFC (MMA) will surpass Boxing in spectator interest. I love watching UFC matches...anyone care to join me in the octagon for a friendly match? How about you, Kung-fu Adino...you brave enough to step in with me, Mr. Black Belt?

LOL.... ABSOLUTELY! Let's ROCK J-ROC! I'm 5'9" about 175 lbs. I'll step in with you if you're under 8' and haven't exceeded 400 lbs (wouldn't want you to have a heart attack on me). Be my guest at the jujutsu school.

I agree with your comment on the spectator aspect of the two sports.
