I remember talking on the phone to a UPC pastor friend of mine from Bible College that I had not spoke to for years not long after that book came out. We had been having a great conversation until that book came up and his whole demeanor changed. He was livid. He had taken great offense at it. I remember being very surprised then I remembered how reactionary most UPC folks are to their house of cards being challenged. You start tugging at one of those cards and they see the whole house shaking.

When I first read that book I remember wishing I had the money to buy one and mail it to every licensed UPC preacher. For most it would have just been a source of more fiery hold the fort preaching but for a few it would have been confirmation of what they know in their mind, hearts, and souls.
CC1 it is part of my core beliefs I make no apology for it and yes I was offended when some of our own attack what we teach. But honestly most folks in Pentecost have NEVER heard of DW-Pope-Woodruff it was like shooting a water pistol at the Sun it excited them and was interesting but the church goes on and the detractors had their 15 seconds but the church survived it.
Again I used their books to teach against their arguments and would have gladly had a public discussion with Pope a pastor offered his building but he never replied. But I was told he regretted he had written it not that he changed his mind but he felt it affected him adversely.

NLYP, I could be completely off base, but I remember when you became a new member here, and you mentioned that this Bro W was your uncle. At the time, I was under the impression that you were VERY upset at him for writing the book. Am I right? If not, I apologize for thinking such a thing.

I really don't think I'm wrong........lol

Dan,

Have your feelings about your uncle's books and subsequent actions changed recently?

I thought I recalled you posting some very strong disapproval once upon a time.

Is my memory failing me?

Your tone regarding this subject seems to have dramatically altered.

After reading Sarah and Coonperson's posts I also seem to recall NYLP being less than enthusiastic about his Uncle Dave's book when it first came up a long time ago.

I am curious as to his response.

Yeah I seem to remember some posts about how broken hearted he was about it even to the point of denouncing it.

Hhmm

I was a teenager when the book first came out, and I too was upset.

Key things here though . . . I was young and was relying entirely on just what I was hearing from the pulpit and not searching things out for myself; and I hadn't read the book.

Years have passed and I've changed in my opinion in regards to the books.

If NLYP denounced it years ago and now supports it, that really doesn't matter.

Sarah, CS, CC1, Thumper . . . it doesn't matter. I'm sure you all have had an opinion on something that has changed over the years. Or have ya'll been perfect all your lives? *grin* I doubt it. I would guarantee there's at least one or more times you have each changed your mind on something you were all once either for or against.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!
And as far as where he goes to church...he has been battling ilness for a while now and just moved back to Atlanta. When he is able he will attend an Aostolic Church.
NOT what YOU think is Apostolic....but since this an APOSTOLIC forum and the term Apostolic is a vague term that has been clearly defined by this foum and its owners and admin team, yes he will be at an apostolic church.

No sir....(HERE COMES THE STORM!!!) I do not believe in the essentiality of uncut hair.
I do believe in long hair...but I do not, nor have I ever believed it is to remain uncut.

As to pants...Tiffany does not..its her conviction.
I personally dont approve because it crosses, IMHO a sex line. BUT do I believe its a heaven or hell issue...No.
