Small church meeting places... any ideas?
Anyone have any ideas for meeting places for a start up church?
We're currently in a borrowed facility (rent free), but we are beginning to think it may be time for us to find a new place in the near future. No strife between us and the folks letting us use it, but we're slowly becoming too big for the place and we want to start thinking about a new place to meet.
We're too big of a group to meet in a home.
Most of the places I've checked into are either ridiculously expensive for our budget or not open on weekends... specifically Sundays.
I've tried local restaurants with meeting rooms. They're taken.
I've tried libraries... not open on Sunday.
I've tried corporate meeting facilities who do nothing but rent out meeting rooms... not open on weekends.
Movie theaters... WAY out of our budget.
Just looking for some other ideas that I may not have thought about yet.

A Seventh Day Adventist Church,
A school lecture theatre,
An afternoon service in a mainstream church,
A funeral home chapel,
A hotel conference room.

Ronzo..
A great place that is relatively inexpensive is a Local VA building or even a Elks/Moose Lodge..... We leased one years ago for about $25.00 per Service... it had a stage set up and sat about 100....

Our daughter work meets in a hotel conference room, but I’ve heard it is a little expensive.
There used to be a local church here that met in the HS auditorium every Sunday.

There is a local start-up church here that was meeting in the high school auditorium. Because the pastor and most of the people lived in the district, they got it rent free. Just had to take care of their own custodial work.
Now they've moved into a church building that was closed down (for lack of attendance). Another group bought the building. They hold services on Friday evenings only, so they rent the church to the other group cheap on Sundays.
There's another church closer to Toledo that rents the Mennonite Church for a Sunday AFTERNOON meeting. That works well for both groups because the Mennonites are a small group and can use the little income and the other church is too small to own their own building yet.

Ron,
Right beofre we left AZ there was a big splash made because a small bible study group was using a Hooters Restraunt as their meeting place. They thought it was great. However I hope ya'll don't take this as a suggestion.
We use to have service in a funeral home chapel. Unless there was a funeral they let us use it for 3 services a week rent free.......
Senior Centers and Community Centers will rent out on the weekends alot of times aswell...

I like Rev Randy's idea of a lodge. They usually are standalone facilities with plenty of parking, chairs, etc.

The funeral home chapel thing weirds me out and would be my choice of last resort.
