Exactly.
Alter-egos have never been banned on AFF before. They have been used openly.

That can be distorted. Let's say this member created a user name and built the character of a cross dresser to ruffle some feathers and present some challenges to the status quo. They certainly have their own reasons for that. Maybe a child is a cross dresser, or a relative, or who knows. Maybe it was just for laughs. Frankly, who cares? Clearly they want to present something that they know will be used to trash them if they don't create the fake user name. So, they create the fake user name and discuss the issue, get some things off their chest, find out how some are haters, some are not, or they just get a good laugh. So, they retire the silly user ID. No harm done really. Only their detractors are trying to paint them bad. However, half of their detractors have multiple user names too. LOL
Were they "dishonest"??? Or were they simply allowing the anonymity of the internet to allow them freedom to openly discuss something they typically wouldn't be able to without being misunderstood, misrepresented, or slandered? I mean, how many times can you ask something and say, "Asking for a friend."??? LOL
It's really simple to understand, in my opinion.
Frankly, it's the same reason why confession booths have curtains.
But, people will try to paint it as dishonesty... if it suits them. But it is just being creative or silly if a detractor is shown to have a second user name.

It was fun at first. Now it isn't.
I am not Rachel Rose.
I am not Bert.
I do not wish my identity to be made public-- whether by old screen name or by real name.
The fact that I have to plainly state this is not cool at all.

Plainly, I am not Rachel Rose. I am not Bert. I don't know what to say or do to prove this to you. The false accusations are worrisome and is taking the fun out of posting.

I can see your concern.
RachelRose was clearly non-traditional... and good for a few laughs. However, some folks took it to a rather dark level with the hatred and slander. Now it isn't a joke any more. What those people have done is created a paradigm whereby the poster in question could be accused for anything presented under RachelRose… and if it isn't truly what they wish to be known for or be associated with... that could be very bad for them.
I put myself in those shoes. On the medical marijuana topic everything I've said has been twisted, misrepresented, and propagated as such until most believe a caricature of who I am, and they don't even know or take the time to get to know the details and fine print of my thoughts or beliefs on it. The only difference is... I didn't shield myself from their foolishness by using an alternate user name. So, now I bear the Scarlet Letter of the haters who have lied and distorted who and what I am. And at first, I thought about scaping this user name and starting from scratch. But you know what... I decided that by wearing their hatred and distortions has a badge of honor, I seal their lying fate in the judgment. Let the dogs keep lying and distorting what I say. We'll answer for every idle word, if one believes what Jesus said. The more they allow their darker angels to motivate them... the more they seal their own fate.

Re: I Value Anonymity. Why Demand Otherwise?
I'm Bert and RachelRose. I'm also a Buckeye. I'm Prax, and, I'm also MichaeltheDisciple. And, I'm a couple others, practicing how to be the most hateful and personally insulting person on the forum, to myself. Someone wanna make a big deal about it? LOL
I think the Admin can look at IP addresses and other things to determine who is really who.
It shocks me that a big deal would be made over anyone using a second user name, when the more we discuss this the more others share that they too have other user names. Yet someone can slander posters repeatedly in the most hateful and venomous way... and even say things that legally boarder on libel... and it's allowed to go unchallenged.
We need to eliminate the hate. Who cares if someone has multiple user IDs.

RR has a history on FB - years of history. He wasn't created by BB. More likely he created BB.

Re: I Value Anonymity. Why Demand Otherwise?
Frankly, I'm not sure why everyone is so obsessed over RachelRose. But evidently he (or she) is one of the most popular usernames on the forum.
Could it be the thirst to destroy another?
They want to know who RachelRose is because they want to paint the caricature as a reality... to tear down another individual.
Again, it is people following their darker angels.

And if the poster using RachelRose felt the username had completed its purpose, why should they not be able to retire it and use another?
