Good question. I think the fact that Christ is the visible image of the invisible God has some bearing on the matter...

Yes, I think so too

Nobody has seen God, or can see God... except via Christ. The OT theophanies were the preincarnate Christ in His role as the Angel of Jehovah, the Word.

Re: Video: Soul Sleep Mortal To Immortal
When you say Christ in this above statement are you referring to the son Jesus Christ the one we know as the messiah or are you referring to simply the spirit of God that would become the Christ. When you start referencing roles played by persons "which Christ was" then you start leaning toward the trinity.

I don't understand your question? Paul said Israel in the wilderness drank from the spiritual Rock that traveled with them, and that Rock was Christ. Nobody here is "leaning toward the trinity." I never was a trinitarian. I've debated them for over 20 years. I've also debated JWs and unitarians. MTD isn't a trinitarian and doesn't "lean toward" their doctrine either.
Christ is Jehovah. He is Jehovah revealing Himself. In the OT as the Angel of His Presence, in the NT as the son of God. When the Bible speaks of the son existing before Bethlehem, it is speaking of WHO, not that a human flesh and blood body existed "in the beginning", but that He Who we know as the son of God existed in the beginning.
God made all things by His Word, His Word became flesh, we call Him Jesus Christ. Therefore God made all things by Jesus Christ. That's plainly Biblical and apostolic.
The Word is not another divine person in heaven (as both trinitarians and Arians assert). Rather, the Word is the One God expressing and revealing Himself.

Re: Video: Soul Sleep Mortal To Immortal
It is interesting that when I do a word search for "immortal" these are the scriptures that come up, showing that we are mortal beings, seeking immortality.
Romans 1:23
and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Romans 2:7
to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life;
1 Corinthians 15:53
For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
1 Corinthians 15:54
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
1 Timothy 1:17
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:16
who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
2 Timothy 1:10
and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

Re: Video: Soul Sleep Mortal To Immortal
Are preterists typically Annihilationist? since the beast is annihilated in the lake of fire, so the unsaved are also?
Quote:
Daniel 7:23-27 English Standard Version (ESV)
“Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast,
there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth,
which shall be different from all the kingdoms,
and it shall devour the whole earth,
and trample it down, and break it to pieces.
As for the ten horns,
out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise,
and another shall arise after them;
he shall be different from the former ones,
and shall put down three kings.
He shall speak words against the Most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the Most High,
and shall think to change the times and the law;
and they shall be given into his hand
for a time, times, and half a time.
But the court shall sit in judgment,
and his dominion shall be taken away,
to be consumed and destroyed to the end.
And the kingdom and the dominion
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven
shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High;
his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom,
and all dominions shall serve and obey him.’

Re: Video: Soul Sleep Mortal To Immortal
Bro Esaias, since the Beast/false prophet is political/religious world govt, the lake of fire symbolizes destruction, correct?

Re: Video: Soul Sleep Mortal To Immortal
Rev 20:10 symbolizes eternal destruction. People get confused because they were told something confusing. That hell, which is the grave was eternal torment. Which it isn't. If you or anyone were to look through the history of ancient Israeli and Judean litriture you couldn't find an eternal torment in the grave.
David tells us that if he was to enter hell God would be there with him, Psalm 139:8. This isn't what we were told, we were told that it was hot, burning, and demons were giving everyone a hard way to go. But the grave was a place of rest, as in sleeping. Jesus taught this, when asked about Lazarus. Jesus is told that Lazarus is dead, but Jesus tells His troop, that they all must go to wake Lazarus up. They respond to Jesus by saying if Lazarus is indeed sleeping then that's a good thing. Jesus cuts through the metaphor and plainly frustratingly states "Lazarus IS dead, John 11:11-14. The patriarchs all went to sleep in the grave, with their fathers. If this was a place of torments then we would of been told that. The rich man in torments is a story, and not an actual event. Because you have the poor man Lazarus laying within the bosom of Abraham. Abraham represents the father of the promise, Lazarus even though he was dealt a bad hand while living he is blessed in death and receives the promise of Abraham, which is Messiah, the Gospel, the New Covenant. The rich man on the other hand doesn't get what he expected, but gets a bad hand in the after life. He then asks father Abraham to send someone from the dead "Lazarus" to his five brethren who all live in his father's house. Abraham declines because of the simple truth that they have the entirety of the Bible, and therefore they need to be saved through the Word Jesus Christ. It is then that Abraham ties it all together, that if you don't get it through the Word, and find it through the Word, then even if a dead man was brought back from the dead you still wouldn't believe. It was a proverb.
Yet, in Revelation 20:10 we are showed that hell will be cast into a lake of fire, and then at that time torments will be eternal.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
