Re: Divorce and Remarriage?

You can divorce and remarry on the basis of these two things.

Matt 19:9

9And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

1 Cor 7:15

15But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Fornication or desertion by an unbelieving spouse.

Wife 1, wife 2, and so on?

I just recently heard about three cases: one: three people sued to be able to get married to each other (a three person marriage), two: a guy sued to be able to marry himself, and three: a guy sued to marry his dog or something. My son told me yesterday about a guy suing so he could marry his laptop or something.

Isn't there an old testament commandment about "thou shalt not go full retard. Thou never goest full retard" or something?

Everyone wants a piece of the pie. Gays, the polyamorous, those who want to be able to claim their dog as a dependent, and a guy who wants to be able to claim his laptop as a dependent... it's all because the government turned marriage into a program with benefits. Non-traditional people felt left out and now they want a piece of the pie.

I did hear of a ceremony (I think it is Hindu in origin) wherein one "marries" themselves. The idea is to pledge to work to one's own highest good above all others and to love one's self unconditionally. Not sure if it's related to what you've mentioned above though.

I think the government should cease to call the civil institution as we know it "marriage" and begin calling it a "civil union". Allow individual churches and houses of worship to recognize these unions as authentic marriages or not. Or... even allow individual couples the right to abstain from entangling their marriages with the government.

The government should recognize marriage, which is a man and woman. The rest should be recognized for what they are: perversion, deviancy, and stupidity.

No dog or laptop can consent to civil marriage or a civil union. So, I doubt that will happen. I think most of these folks are being sarcastic or have some mental condition.

Now, as for gays, polygamists, and the polyamorous... they are tax paying citizens. The government represents them as much as it does anyone one else. Given the statutes against discrimination I don't see them being denied their wishes forever. In my opinion, simply having the government provide a general "civil union" would be a one size fits all option... and we get to remove the word "marriage" from the mess and use it as intended.

Besides, even when the government strictly recognized only a man and woman in the bonds of "civil marriage"... the laws governing those marriages were unbiblical. I'd hear this wacko freak-jobs say, "We're takin' a stand for biblical marriage!" Idiots. I don't know if civil marriage in the United States has ever been "biblical".
