Re: witchcraft

Not having ever seen the show I would not know how accurate they are with incantations, spells, sorcery, magic, spirits, etc.

I do believe that witchcraft is real, and it can have an effect on the unwary. This is especially true of the unsaved.

Thinking about it, I would say more likely witchcraft in the style of Frank Perretti when he wrote This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness.

I would appreciate even an expanded def, then we might approach the spirit of witchcraft. I just don't find it accurately embodied in that angle, the Bewitched angle, although I understand it is practiced. But to get at the spirit I think you have to define what it is you are trying to do with a...spell, say. You are trying to change someone's mind? Does this work?

Or, Jay...?

Re: witchcraft

Witchcraft is the practice of using occult practices and rituals. These are easily looked up if one makes the attempt. This is no longer hidden in a basement or attic, but occurs openly in your local bookstore.

I do not know all of the practices, however spells can be used to influence people, 'help' people, harm people, and do other things as well. The best known of these practices can be found in the New Age section of your library or bookstore.

Re: witchcraft

Well, that def seems to me to be dealing with a diff kind of spell; one I'm immune to, therefore irrelevant? I would like the def to expand a bit more, as this still doesn't feel like the type of witchcraft that it will edify me to overcome, if you will.

Flute, you may see what I mean?

Re: witchcraft

Um, and we naturally equate witchcraft=bad, but I'd like some mention of White v black, is there really any such thing, etc?

Actually, you might not be immune to the spirits that were summoned by that spell. Much would depend on your spiritual condition. I have heard of people getting very messed up because they were not ready when they had to meet the foe. Every spirit that is not of God is of Satan, and is therefore not to treated lightly.

We do have a greater power than they if we are filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus' name. And forget about the Hollywood trash that glamorizes the occult. They play games with it, and then they wonder why they die at young ages, go a bit strange, take years to recover from the making of some of these demonic movies. Some have had their lives destroyed by the spirits that were brought onto the set. Then people open their homes and summon these spirits, and then wonder why they have the number of problems that plague them.

The white vs black is a facade. If you study the occult for very long at all, they are calling on the same gods and goddesses. It is only in degree that these two groups are actually different. Nothing good comes from consorting with the devil. Even a basic reading of C.S. Lewis will teach you that.
