Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Testing the patience of my loving wife ( another book !!) , I picked up the biography of Andrew Urshan. No mention of Harry Morse or William Manley. But then again, neither is there a mention of Frank Ewart.
Urshan did have a revival in Los Angeles in 1916. But little data is given about who was there or who assisted. A few are listed who worked with Morse and were part of the Apostolic ministry in California.
But he does mention a magazine called "Glad Tidings" edited by W H Giles of Los Angeles. Looks like a good lead.
The journey continues.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
The following is a description of the impact of the Azusa Street outpouring in Los Angeles. It was penned in 1918 by a local Los Angeles pastor, W M Collins. It was printed in the Glad Tidings magazine, Sept. 1918.
While Los Angeles was one if the starting points of the Latter Rain baptism in the Holy Spirit which fell April 12th, 1906, and produced a worldwide revival unsurpassed in the annals of history (and destined to go on until Jesus comes), it is also proven to be a hotbed of heresy where false doctrines have been incubated and propagated to such an extent that not only the unity of the faith was rendered impossible, but the unity of the Spirit itself was greatly marred- hundreds of the Lord's baptized saints were heartbroken and distressed over these conditions. They were crying, "Lord, revive thy work; send the old time power."
Now to find that magazine and see what else was in it.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
If I understand Urshan correctly, until 1918, he was neutral concerning the New Issue. The magazine the article was from was from the Glad Tidings churches. They were Pentecostal, but not Oneness.
So Urshan would preach revivals for Harry Morse in Oakland, and then drive into San Francisco and preach revivals at the Glad Tidings church.
It appears the 1918 revival in Los Angeles was the last revival before Urshan had to choose which "side" he would be on.
Glad Tidings churches, at least on the West Coast ended up in the AOG.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Most Pentecostal magazines are found online. But not all.
Where in the world can I find copies of his magazine "The Finest of the Wheat" ??
The AOG archive has some, but are incomplete. I can purchase them online at 20 bucks per issue, but my wife will shoot me if I pick up 10 issues at 200 bucks.
I could ask the librarian at the PAW college library to have a student sift through their holdings for me, but I prefer to do my own research.
Anyone have a box full of Haywood's magazine ???

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Apostolic Archives has them for 20 bucks each. Which is great, but rather expensive. I'm looking for less expensive options.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
Harry Morse, who recently left the Ziegler store and removed to Los Angeles, Cal., writes of some deep sea fishing that will make some local disciples of Walton envious. A few days ago he encountered a gentleman from Manitowoc, Wis., who invited him to go on a little excursion in a small 25 foot launch. When 20 miles from shore the 2 men let out 865 feet and 1300 feet of heavy line, about as big as clothes rope, weighted with 7 pound sinkers, and provided with 15 hooks each. In an hour they had caught 360 pounds of fish. The Manitowoc man in the bow pulled a shark to the surface but the big fish bit off the line and went away with the hooks.

Re: Who was Harry Morse ?
An old Saint, I'm sorry to say, recently passed away who atttended the Fresno church. Sis Annie Brown was her name. She had been there since nearly the beginning. In the words of Elder V Morton, "She was the city's library. With her goes all the history." If he ever had a question about something, someone, somewhere he could always go to her and she would remember. She was there when truth tabernacle started on ninth and Lowe in Fresno way back when jimmy Davis was the pastor. Her husband, Wesley is still alive still and always bring me great joy to see him with a his warm and bright smile. Great Great people. But I think about what history or connections they might have. Great read!
