His racism? That's a new one for me.
I've heard the other accusations, and that's all they've ever been, by the way.
Scott Walker grew up in my hometown, where I still live, and his parents and mine are friends. My oldest brother and Scott's younger brother were best buds in high school.
From what I know of his parents, while admitting that children some times fall very far from the tree, or roll down hill once they grow up and move out, I can't help but think Scott Walker isn't nearly as bad as you've made him out to be. His father is a very well respected retired Baptist minister. His mom is sweet as pie, a very thoughtful lady.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told he and his family started attending Parkway? Is that true, or one of those typical Pentecostal rumors people in our movement like to dole out a couple times a year?
The only issue anyone really has with him, it seems to me, is that he broke the stranglehold the teacher's union had in our WI. He was crucified for it. All those John Doe investigations, finally made illegal. What a sham and shame!
I mean, we spent millions of wasted dollars on a failed recall just because of some chaffing teachers and educators. Completely wasted everyone's time and hindered his governorship.
Well, that's how I see it from my desk chair. I'm not attempting to wrangle anyone into a fight about it.
By the way, I didn't vote for him his first go round, but I did in the recall. Here is why:
I was in East Troy for a doctor's appointment, and had to kill some time, and so, stopped at a diner for some breakfast. There was an attack ad airing on the TV. The Spirit moved on me and reminded me of the verse ordering us to "submit to the governor" (
1 Peter 2:13-14). I had the distinct realization that Walker's opponent was intentionally not obeying God's Word. So, in the fear of God, I felt led to vote for him as a way to submit to and respect Scott as Governor as one of those ordained powers from
Romans 13.
