Liberal Media Meltdown

I find this very amusing.
Over the last few weeks, whenever I turned on NPR in the middle of the day it was always doing a hit piece on Trump.

I know. I left Fox last night and this morning to watch the angst on ABC, MSNBC, and CNN. It was glorious.

Re: Liberal Media Meltdown

I watched CNN and was told that Trump winning wasnt a backlash against the GOP, but rather a whitelash. Sigh...

We can be more humble by keeping in mind that the popular vote for Trump was under 50%. He received less votes than both Romney and McCain.

Romney - 65.9 million
McCain - 59.9
Trump - 58.84

He flipped some states (WI, OH, PA), but he didn't bring in new voters. We lost one seat in the Senate and 7 in the House. Obama won 8 Senate seats and 21 seats in the House.

So, really, while you rejoice on the win, and I am glad you are happy, Trump didn't exceed expectations like most would have us believe.

He also promised to prosecute Hillary, yet, in his acceptance speech last night he praised her hard work on the campaign trail and her term as Secretary of State. Will she be prosecuted like he promised?

Again, as I have stated, they are pretty well tied which only means our country is still running a 50/50 divide. That isn't exceptional.

We can only hope as Ben Sasse stated on his Facebook page:

"On Tuesday, America demanded disruption. My family and I congratulate President-Elect Trump on his decisive victory, and we pray that he will lead wisely and faithfully keep his oath to a Constitution of limited government. Starting today, I will do everything in my power to hold the President to his promises: to fight for an ethics reform package that upends cronyism and enacts term limits; to lead on repealing and replacing ObamaCare; and to nominate judges who reject law-making by unelected courts. Melissa and I wish the new First Family the best in the coming transition."

I do agree with you that Obamacare is what brought her down. Even more so than Benghazi or the FBI investigation.

He did not exceed expectations????
That's hilarious.
Just last week Hillary was firmly in control, the Dems were going to take over the Senate and might take over the House.

It's hilarious to put any credence in the media. One thing they did accomplish, I cancelled my SiriusXM radio a few months ago. I was totally sick of listening to both sides.

Did I think he would lose? It was a possibility, but I didn't believe 100% he would lose. I don't believe I have ever stated I believed he would lose. At least I don't recall making that claim.

His win doesn't change my view on his character. I hope he and the Republicans are successful AND I hope his insulting performance during the primaries was just a reality tv show act. I hope he is a different man in the White House.

"We" can be more humble PO? There's no "we". You were anti-Trump from beginning to end.

Re: Liberal Media Meltdown

Sad to see all the protests taking place. No one is saying that there was a false election, or that any criminality took place, but rather demonstrating, and anger that Trump won, and anger at rural America too.

The deep divides in this country, between city and rural America are huge. We are standing on a precipice.

I was amazed when looking at each state that you could see where the city populations voted blue, and the rural voted red. What conclusion can be drawn from this?

Yet, I voted Republican down ballot.

This is the truth of this election, it was about Hillary being a BAD candidate and not that Trump was a GOOD candidate.
Quote:
The Media Can Destroy Candidates, but Cannot Help Bad Candidates

The true story of this election cycle isn’t Donald Trump’s supposed mass movement. As of Wednesday afternoon, Donald Trump had won approximately 59.6 million popular votes. In 2012, Mitt Romney won 60.9 million popular votes; Barack Obama won 65.9 million. In 2008, John McCain won 59.9 million popular votes; Obama won 69.5 million. Meaning Trump underperformed Romney and performed on par with McCain in a vastly expanded electorate. That’s not the mark of a huge wave. The media was able to achieve with Trump what they achieved with his two predecessors: They made him look unpalatable. But they weren’t able to achieve palatability for Hillary Clinton. She lost approximately 10 million votes from Barack Obama’s 2008 election total. This election was clearly a referendum on Hillary, and she failed. The media couldn’t prop her up. Obama couldn’t prop her up. Minorities didn’t show up to vote for her. Nobody showed up for her. And so she lost.

Re: Liberal Media Meltdown

I was talking with a couple co-workers, and one mentioned how nasty some of her friends and family have become because of the election. She talked about FB posts of a friend she's known since High School who is a big Trump supporter and how it's changed his attitude. She doesn't want to see his posts anymore because of the disrespect and hateful things he's said. On the other hand, there are other friends who did not support Trump who have also surprised her with their outright hatred of him.

Of course, Trumpster's will never admit or acknowledge Trump's role in this. He was, in the words of one post, just responding to insults ... though he started it during the primaries with his lies and smears.

A few weeks ago, I watched one of the first town hall debates from 1992, between Bill Clinton, George HW Bush and Ross Perot. It was incredible the difference between that debate and the debates of the past couple elections. The candidates respected each other, did not interrupt or insult each other. The moderator didn't try to take over the debate or take sides. It was informative and a great debate.

I'm happy Clinton wasn't elected POTUS. But I'm not happy a nasty, hateful, divisive, arrogant, indecent Trump was. I hope he changes, but I doubt he will.
