How's the weather over there?

As you would know down under we are enjoying our summer. The wet monsoon season in our tropical north, along with hot and dry scorching conditions the further south you go.
Parts of Queensland have had drought for seven years or more [does that remind us of a OT story?] and the banks are forcing 4th and 5th generation farmers to sell up cheap. Sound familiar. Lots of bad politics and social dysfunction over all of this. The world is losing its blessings and Matthew 24 is knocking at the door.
Here in South Australia my state [bigger than Texas] is considered the driest state in the driest continent. Two-thirds is dry, arid and desert. Only the bottom one third is somewhat green. We measure "rainfall" in millilitres are even part thereof - points.
We just went through a week of 40C (104F) with overnight temps in the 20s C (68-70F). If you like dry then come on down. But this coming week or two will be a lot milder and more pleasant at just staying in the low 30s C (86-91F). We have great beaches where thousands go to to boost their melanomas (skin cancers).

Just internet search South Australia for great pics of the 'Flinders Rangers' or 'Wilpena Pound' or 'Adelaide' or 'Barossa Valley'.

Sounds horrible. Growing up I always dreamed of visiting Australia. You've just ruined that! I'm not much on hot, dry air anymore. Canada sounds nice now.

It does rain in winter. It's the summers that are so dry. But there's always Tasmania another 15 degrees south. Very English style countryside with wonderful historical townships. Plenty of wilderness and Tasmanian devils.

What are the temperatures in the winter? English countryside sounds nice. Tasmanian Devils not so much.

Re: How's the weather over there?

Summers go from about October/November through to April.
By May even with our glorious Indian summers there is a noticeable change in the evening temperatures and much shorter daylight hours.
Winter kicks in by June through to late August. Can be very rainy and with wintry squalls. Remember there is nothing south of Australia but the Southern Ocean, penguins and Albatrosses - then Antarctica.
As all the weather systems come up from the south it can get pretty cold, wet and miserable for us here.
We whinge and complain when the day time temperatures fall to as low as 12/13C (53-55F). No snow, but plenty of overnight frosts -4 - -2C (24-28F).
I know we're whimps. We rug up in trackies, jackets, beanies and our famous ugg boots. Even the Longjohns come out.

Meanwhile though the tropical north is in the dry season and the grey nomads all get their cars and caravans out to travel to the far north tropical paradise.

It is hard to imagine the differences in climate where you are in Australia. We still have snow on the ground here. The snow is melting now as we are getting rain. We may be getting an early spring again this year.

Re: How's the weather over there?

I have friends who live outside Ft Worth, TX in a rural town. They said the roads they live on are flooded and they can't drive anywhere now. I didn't realize it was so bad there.
