My grandpa got the Holy Ghost when he was 72. He lived and breathed the church for 3 years and went on to be with the Lord at 75.
He had a military background was a very stern man and was harsh a lot of the time. But then... he was filled with the Holy Ghost.
He would call to tell my mom what the preacher had preached about that day and couldn't finish telling her because he would break out in tears. He was, indeed, a changed man.
To think of the probability (or lack thereof) that, at this point in life, someone would experience such a change is phenomenal.
I guess it is probably because of my experience with my grandpa but I find it a wonderfully touching thing when someone is saved from the clutches of the enemy so late in their journey.
Of course the preference would have been that they would have known this salvation for most of their life but the victory is as sweet as ever.
