Apostolic Organizations

What is your favorite Apostolic organization and why? Is your Church a member, or is it independent? Which do you prefer between organization and independent?

Re: Apostolic Organizations

Well Im not real up on the different ones. I would say "The Glorious Church Network". Its not an organization just a few groups that have basic agreement with Pastor/Elder Dave Huston of Carlisle Pa.

What sets them apart is they teach multiple Elders, the post tribulation rapture, soul sleep and conditional immortality.

I pray their small network would flourish. Bro. Dave is ordained in the UPC not sure if their group is actually IN the organization.

The Church I attend is UPC and is highly formalistic and teaches opposite of the things I like about the Glorious Church Network.

Re: Apostolic Organizations

I must say independent is ok as long as the pastor has a church board. Independent pastors can quickly become cultish and lead a flock away from biblical based teaching. They can set "standards" based on personal bias and control. At least with an organization you have higher earthly authority you can go to of there are things going on. Wish I had one around my area just drove 1.25 hours to go to service Sunday. God smiled as I drove and talked threw the preached word. The pastor had no clue who I was. God is great.

Seems to me the incidence of unbiblical-ness is unrelated to whether a church is linked to a denomination or not.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."
