So the term "sons of God" might not be speaking about angels or righteous Sethites. The term, "sons of God", could denote a class of ancient kings declaring divine prerogative.

What do you mean? Can you elaborate?

Nimrod was a king who declared that he was a "son" of the god, Shamash. That would make him fit the bill as a "son of God" in their world.

Rulerswere indeed human beings (ha Adam), but were declaring that they were "sons of God". Quite possibly the origin of what is known by scholars as the Emperor Cult.

This is how these "sons of God" have arisen and ruled us, "even after that", until this very day.

With this theory, the "sons of God", were human kings who had a "messianic" vision or claim to divinity, what they declared as a "divine right" to rule and govern mankind, taking as many wives as they chose, filling the earth with war and violence.
