Re: I received a phone call about tithes
I actually don't see anything wrong with the pastor handling the money. But I also feel the church should decide how the money is spent. There also should be reports given as to how the money was spent. There needs to be accountability.

This is asking for trouble. I've heard of Pastor's wives writing church checks to their kids and when confronted said it was none of their business. If there is no one else that sees what comes in and goes out, there is all sorts of opportunity to fudge the books. Also, this same dishonest Pastor/wife combo, took all the tithe records with them when they resigned. Those records are supposed to stay with the corporation. But it wasn't worth dragging someone through the court system.

Church leaders could then depend on the honor system for the office's held. If you hold a position and are not faithfully giving as God has prospered you then you should resign for yourself, and not have a pastor trying to play sheriff.

Do you mean "anonymously"? I only point it out because if you are sharing your vision with multiple people, they may misunderstand.

Maybe if they are going to operate like a business, each member should be considered a share holder. They should hire an accountant to do stuff

May I state that the above post is strictly fictional, and is not a fact, and all parties mentioned are fiction.

Re: I received a phone call about tithes
Autocratic leadership in a church leads to corruption. period. This type of pastor almost always trusts no one, and keeps track of the tithes himself.
