You don't know what you're talking about. Jeff Arnold is considered by almost all of Pentecost as one of the best preachers in the world. I concur, and as a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Gainesville, FL, I can say that he's an even better pastor than he is a preacher.
|
Please. Jeff Arnold is not one of the best. He may have been back in the day, but now he's just a showman. He has an act, and that's to be as crude, arrogant and controversial as he can be.

Dear brother, first of all Bro. Gleason and Bro Arnold are good friends. Second, Pastor Arnold was slamming the statement on leadership that Gleason or another speaker quoted from Maxwell. It doesn't make sense at all. Ex: Was God a bad leader because Adam disobeyed? How about Prophet Samuel? was he a bad leader when Israel rejected GOD to have Saul rule over them? Jesus had 12 for 3 years and one Betrayed him! WAS JESUS A BAD LEADER?
Third point, I was at BOTT and I am from Gainesville. We thank God for our Pastor, WE LOVE HIM and HE IS A REAL MAN OF GOD THAT LOVES GOD AND HATES EVIL!
The word he preached was the word needed to end the awesome conference with prophetic insight.
|
First, "Good friends?" Surely you jest. With friends like that, who needs enemies?
Second, Arnold slammed the person, NOT the quote. Watch the clip again. He didn't say the quote was dumb, or even that the idea was stupid. No. He said the speaker who gave that quote was an idiot and needed brain surgery.
He'd have been fine if he said the quote was stupid. He didn't.
Third, Arnold was wrong for publicly attacking another minister, regardless if he felt the quote was wrong or not. It was a horrible example to set for young ministers. He's arrogant and needs to repent for his attitude and comments.

Re: Bott '14
What happened to gentlemen in the pulpit? This is very sad to me that anyone would say what he did was OK. He crossed a line and needs to apologize. When he was in his thirties, the slang from the Bronx (or wherever he's from) was kind of cute. In his 60's, he should have matured past that shock-jock stuff. Sorry, I know I have been gone from UPC for 22 years, but I still have a vested interest and love the people. There is no excuse for this kind of stuff from a man of God.

Re: Bott '14
I just tuned in to the POA webcast this morning. Bro. Mangun spent about 15 minutes lauding the saints in his church. I think he is trying to distance himself from the spectacle that took place with JA.

There has been an apology made and a call to remove the clip from Facebook by those who have posted it. It should have been just as public an apology, IMO.

Re: Bott '14
Even though an apology has been made, something like this is not going to die down easily. A simple apology is not enough. It was obvious from the statements JA made that he is burnt out, and is tired of dealing with people. Out of the heart, the mouth speaketh. It would serve him well to take a leave of absence from the pulpit. And the kind of language he uses, is not fitting for men who are supposed to be speaking the word of God.

I've always loved Bro Arnold...and still do. However, I am very disappointed in him.

He was saying the same kind of thing back in the 90s...not publicly attacking fellow ministers, but the same attitude about saints.
He spoke at an event I was at and gave a story about walking off the platform and leaving church because his sound tech wasn't paying attention and after the choir sang he wanted to exhort the congregation, but his mic was off and he couldn't get the attention of the sound tech. So he said he waved to the congregation and left.
I don't know that he needs to step down, I think he believes people want him to be crude and controversial, so he has to live up to his hype.
FTR, while I haven't heard Gleason's message or quote in context, from what I've read I do agree with Bro. Arnold. But the way he addressed it was ungodly, arrogant and wrong.

David, I didn't post any of the comments for anything other than - there were other people having an opinion as much as you and Sherri, who popped in to comment.
The audience did gasp, so I think they weren't sure who he was talking about.
He did say, "...and I know that came from John Maxwell, because I heard it...but that junk I heard today..."
I don't really care if he says idiot or not. No one posting here could stand up to any type of scrutiny and be found without some flaw that offends someone. Therefore, I am not casting stones at Jeff Arnold.
