I'm not sure what context the Obama statements were made but I don't see a lot of room for that stuff in any pulpit I'm behind. I guess some of these guys get really comfortable.

Re: Bott '14
BOTT is still a successful conference. The people who go enjoy it and have positive things to say and the people who don't go anymore talk trash. Predictable.
I went with my parents as a kid and even I enjoyed BOTT. I was never bored, and I had some really good experiences there, both in church and out. IMO, if you don't like BOTT, then you probably don't enjoy traditional Pentecost or its people/culture in general. Understandable, if that's your perspective, but expecting people who DO enjoy BOTT to care about that is like expecting them to care what the local Elk's Lodge thinks of the conference.

Certain *old favorites* are given a lot of rope. You go to some sessions knowing you're going to be shocked...or even offended. I felt that way when my Dad attended ultra-con conferences. It was a little intimidating sitting there with my UPCI-licensed Dad while the preacher yelled about how UPCers were going to hell. LOL!!! But then later we would go to the fellowship hall and my Dad would sit down and fellowship with the same hard-nosed guys we were just listening to. Maybe I learned from him how to let things roll off.

I agree. I've been to BOTT a few times and watched countless videos of it and found it to be a tremendous blessing and encouragement. I don't consider myself to be classical or traditional Pentecost but I can relate to the message and "spirit" of the conference. Concerning the speaker in question, I love this mans ministry despite his unfortunate choice of words.
