I do not at all accept that us libs are somehow responsible for his current situation by "encuraging him". I think it is absurd to think that somehow keeping him around conservative old time Pentecostal standards would somehow have kept his mind from going where it has gone.

Like you I am trying to be kind and will not say what I really think other than to say I think narcissism to the max is involved, pyschological issues, and I have a pretty good guess that he was not told "no" very often growing up.
Well said, CC1. A more liberal viewpoint does not make one responsible for someone's radical views.

Nathan's problem was not a con or a lib problem it was a self and sin problem.
I too communicated with him and on a personal level he was always kind and respectful. It just goes to show be careful of personas on these forums many times it is not at all what it seems. He would throw gasoline on some discussions when in fact he did not care at all about the subject. His disdain was for Pentecost in general so he hid underneath supposidly lib cloaks.

I gotta say, these are some of the best posts I have ever read on AFF thusfar.

I think that cynicism unchecked can turn a person to the point where there is nothing to believe in anymore. It is like soil eroding bit by bit until the house falls into the sea.

Just under nine years ago I was almost over the precipice you describe. I came real close to cashing my pay check (the wages of sin) before the Lord Jesus stepped in and righted my wrongs, my attitude and my heart!

Excellent post. This post and Elder Epley's not long before yours are both very perceptive.
