Object of Worship?

I have no argument about is Jesus God or if jesus should be our object of worship. My question is, should we worship a glorified Jesus or the universal love intelligence spirit that is the essence of jesus? we know that jesus is that essence manifested as a person, but should we worship the essence or the person? can you please provide some scripture to support your view? thanks for any responses.

Re: Object of Worship?

after posting, this verse came to mind that i think answers my question

John 5:23

Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

23 that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

does honour here mean worship? the second part of verse clearly says that those who do not honour jesus are not honouring god. does that mean that people who worship a universal god like buddhists, muslims, new agers etc are not worshipping god by not honouring jesus as god?

Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

You should worship Jesus.

Actually Jesus is a Divine person manifested as a Human. Not an impersonal essence (Think the Force from Star Wars), manifested as a person.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

not sure where you get evidence for a divine person and how you would define person at that scale. my personal opinion is that god is a person in the sense that logos may refer to ego or self awareness. before logos god was pure awareness so in that sense even the person of god has essence.

Hmmmm

You don't see how or where I get a Divine Person yet you turn around and call God a Person...*confused*

You should worship Jesus.
Other scriptures to go with that Luke.

Quote:
Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
Quote:
Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God
.

Yes, we should worship Jesus, because He is God.

kind of hard to make a simple explanation. you need to read "the oneness of God" by david k. bernard to understand how people in the apostolic movement understand jesus and the father.

basically the father is the eternal spirit (john 4:24). god was manifested in the flesh (I tim 3:16) the son refers to the human manifestation of god and the father refers to the eternal spirit manifestation of god. holy spirit is the manifestation of the presence of god. 3 distinct, simultaneous manifestations of one person of god, not 3 persons of god like trinitarians. look up sabellianism on wiki for historical reference to the belief in oneness or modalism.
