What is The Anointing ?

I've thought about what annointing really is. or instance, I've heard people sing outside the church that I knew had an annointing from God to sing. It's more than talent.

The anointing, to me, is the oil of God's Spirit that saturates someone until they are moving under His power. I think the anointing for a certain gifting is given for life. I don't think you lose it even if you backslide. But I do think you can misuse it. For example, I think that Whitney Houston is anointed to sing, but she isn't using it for the right reasons. But she was raised to sing for God. That's why when she was recording songs for "The Preacher's Wife", they had to stop the filming because everyone was in tears when she sang those gospel choir songs.

I know people who are anointed to preach, others who are anointed to teach, some who are anointed to dance before the Lord, etc. JMHO!
