Re: Love Everybody
Ha we 'naturally' seek affirmation in crowds, when in truth no one believes just like you do, or at least shouldn't, imo. This is 'clone,' or 'death,' as far as God is concerned.
While it is difficult, as I'm usually feeling the same lack of affirmation as the other, I now go out of my way, when meeting new people/groups, to be alert for those who's spirit might not immediately be in affirmation with mine, for some reason--we all experience it; meeting four new people, say, there is often that 'one' who you just seem to not click with, right away? Ya, that guy. I've even gone as far as highlighting my lack of affirmation to the other, to some interesting...results.
Don't miss out on a huge reservoir of...well, not sure how to describe it, but avenues open up with a little attention here, or close down. Reveal when you may be feeling judgemental, even, and why. "I've been brainwashed into believing a woman with bobbed hair was going to hell" goes a long way-even if you still believe that!

Re: Love Everybody
Perhaps what Bbyrd is trying to say....and he can correct me if I am wrong...is that even though birds of a feather flock together...no two people think exactly the same way.
For those who enjoy the company with a certain crowd, they dare not voice anything contrary to the 'belief system' in that particular crowd lest they lose being a part of that crowd.
Saying I'm sorry for being judgmental towards a woman who bobs her hair might go a long way, even if they still believe that way.
Incidentally, I've never heard of any man losing sleep over a woman (who is not his wife) going to hell because they bobbed their hair.

Re: Love Everybody
It's interesting... near death experiences all have an interesting thread in common. While we're focused on "right theology"... it seems people come back from a near death experience emphasizing right love. The point is... mental midgets think they can understand everything about an infinite God and demand that you think the way they do. But God, being infinite, is more concerned with the reality of how we have loved.

Re: Love Everybody
We have a responsibility to proclaim truth in love. Even when the truth is offensive.

Re: Love Everybody
I too approve of this thread Cindy!!
This is a question that we all need to ask of ourselves, and of the denomination we are affiliated with.
This has been my concern for a long time about the Apostolic/Pentecostal churches in general... and even among other denominations too...
A group get some truth or revelation... and then begin to hate or despise anyone else who doesn't share that similar belief and pronounce hell-fire judgment on them for their lack of belief. What an amazing concept.... yet that is why the Crusades took place, the Inquisition, all the religious wars that are going on even now in our world....
So... if one sits down and reads the entire gospels one after another... you will not find that kind of judgment coming from the Lord, instead you find a thread of love weaved throughout His ministry. The only time he ranted and railed was towards the religious groups of the day, the Sadducees and the Pharisees, who thought they had religion wrapped up and tied up...
Seems to me that these churches today that think they've got God wrapped up and tied up in their little belief system, might take a closer look at how Jesus would feel if He were to literally walk into their churches today....
Love is the way of Christ. Hatred is the way of man.
Likewise, you can tell by the fruit being borne out of anyone's life if you look at the way they handle a situation in which they've been mistreated, misused, and rejected. If hatred, enmity, and divergence spill forth, the Spirit of Christ is not reigning in that life.
If, on the other hand... love pours forth, along with forgiveness and the fruits of the spirit, you may be sure that the mind of Christ is indwelling and reigning in that person's life.

Re: Love Everybody
Now let me get this straight, ECUMENICALISM is by & large of the devil & in fact, many beleive it is trying to bring us toward that one world Church mentioned in Revelation.
ECUMENICALISM, in and of itself leads to a watering down of doctrine & scriptures.
That being said, we can all fulfill the scripture admonition to love one another, in fact, God even says for us to love our enemies!
Two issues are being discussed IMO that really shouldn't be, but I may be misreading you Cindy?
Definition of ECUMENICAL
1
: worldwide or general in extent, influence, or application
2
a : of, relating to, or representing the whole of a body of churches
b : promoting or tending toward worldwide Christian unity or cooperation
