Chicago woman dies after botched abortion
Tonya Reaves' family mourns as it tries to figure out what went
wrong at Planned Parenthood facility

Less than a week after the Obama administration pledged to continue funding Planned Parenthood,
a woman died after having an abortion at one of the organization's facilities.

Chicago resident Tonya Reaves, 24, was pronounced dead on July 20 at Northwest Memorial Hospital just hours after going
through a Dilation and Evacuation abortion at a local Planned Parenthood facility.

Abortion provider use the D&E method when a pregnancy has advanced beyond the first trimester.

The operation consists of opening the cervix and removing the child after it is dismembered.

An autopsy revealed that Reaves died from hemorrhage following the abortion.

Her death has been ruled an accident.

Operation Rescue, a pro-life Christian activist organization, was the first to release a statement about the incident and
are calling for President Obama to halt federal funding and personal support for Planned Parenthood.

I guess "accident" is all the powers that be can think of to rule it since our country legalized abortion to be a legal, safe, elective woman's choice "healthcare" issue (tic).

I am not defending abortion but people die having all kinds of procedures... A women died at our hospital recently having a boob job.

I had the same thought T2W. I'm sure she wasn't the first to die having a procedure done - ANY procedure, nor will she be the last. I am in no way defending abortion. I think it is a HORRIBLE thing to do. But the fact remains that one death is not going to change many people's opinion about abortion. Shoot, the fact of the matter is that in this case it was the mother who died. But every time an abortion is performed, there is a death involved. People don't seem to care about them. Why should they care about this ONE mother? Sad.... just sad. All around sad.

Exactly Margie, a friend of mine died last fall while giving birth. It was a random, freak thing that happened, but it has not been used to advocate women stop giving birth! Like you, I am not defending abortion, but neither do I think something like this will be effective in stopping the procedure.

Until people realize that "dismembering" a baby inside its mother's womb is flat-out murder, then this heinous crime will continue.

Sure people die having all kinds of operations, but they are required to disclose to them that this is a possibility, however remote. One must legally consent knowing the risk. Planned Barrenhood has consistently resisted such things because they want people to believe they are safe denying and hiding facts like having an abortion can cause some women not to be able to carry a pregnancy to term in the future, among many other psychological and physical problems associated with having this "Safe" procedure.

This happens a lot.I heard about this during the 1980's by operation rescue. The doctors are never touched they even testify at their friens trials to prevent lawsuits.
