Re: witchcraft

I could share some stories about experiences with the supernatural... but most would either not believe them or make fun of them. I point is that there is supernatural realm beyond our own. And as far as witchcraft and witches...there is such a thing. It's not like fire balls and turning into black cats. It's more like a pagan prayer against you that "spirits" respond to and you're left dealing with these spirits. There is no "force" or "power" in a spell. In my experience these are "spirits" responding to the words of a pagan.

For example, if a witch were to use witchcraft against you in an attempt to harm you, she mutters or prayer, intention, "spell", or performs her "ceremony". From that point an evil spirit may attempt to break into your life and wreak some havok. It isn't a "force" that is giving you bad luck.

Yes, that is true. However there will be false Christs and false prophets who will show signs and wonders. And the elect, if it were possible, could be seduced.

However, my point remains, how will the elect KNOW? I believe because fear from the enemy produces confusion and distress. Not only that, when the signs and wonders elevate a man, and not turn the focus of the people to Christ, that is also a way to discern signs/wonders/witchcraft from true miracles from the Lord.

Satan's way has always been fear and confusion. But true peace, joy, and perfect love that casts out fear are of God.

I myself want to live by that measuring stick for all signs, wonders, and miracles, and such like.

I personally would consider it encouragement and confirmation to hear about your experiences, Aquila.

It's been a long time since I've done any indepth studying on the subject, but to sum up the point about control and manipulation, the great appeal witchcraft has for the masses is finding a way to control life's seemingly uncontrolable twists and turns. Those who practice witchcraft generally are looking for a source of power that allows them to add some sort of meaning to their lives while abandoning the source of all power and all strength who is Jesus Christ the one and only true Living God. That is why the Bible says rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft (1 Samuel 15:23). It is the ultimate rebellion against God. Seeking a way to control ones own life (or the lives of others) and effect circumstances outside of the will of God. The practice is actually BASED upon a thirst for control, as even in Genesis 3 the fall of man was in a way influenced by witchcraft when the serpant promised Adam and Eve that they would be "like gods". Ever since the fall of man, we've been tormented by sin, death, plagues, sickness, and our sin nature which will not allow our flesh to willingly seek God seeks after what ever way it can to escape from the trials of life without actually yielding to God. Thus we have the practice of witchcraft, and the basis of just about every other religion outside of the truth of Gods word.

Re: witchcraft

"No weapon formed against me shall prosper" comes to mind.

Calling on the Name of the Lord is a safe place. It works I know firsthand.

In the halcyon days of my youth, I lived with a group of folks and among the group was a practitioner of the dark arts. We started talking about these things and another guy in the group decided he was interested. One night my witch-friend decided to call up demons.

I was as backslid as a person can be but I sure felt what was going on so I told him to stop. He laughed at me so I turned to the wall and under my breath without anyone knowing what I was doing I started praying and pleading the blood of Jesus.

All of the sudden my friend got freaked out and started begging me to stop. I looked at him and told him I would under the condition he never did that again.

It gives me chills thinking about that. I don’t like messing around with spirits. I don’t even watch horror films because of it. That night was an eye opener for me.

Some years later, after I came back to Christ, I went to South America as an Associate In Missions worker. While there we started a preaching point in an area that was the seat of voodoo in Guyana. They actually call it something like Obio (sp). That night as we started the service we started singing about the Blood and things really got kind of crazy. Possessed people started acting out.

We prayed devils out of several. That night about 8 of us stayed in the same house with this fellow that lived there and was our point of contact. All of us felt spiritual attack all night. none of us spoke about it in the night be we all prayed quietly most of the night.

That next day I had to go back to Georgetown to teach in the bible school. Early that morning I went back to the house I was living in to get ready for the day. I had to make a 5 mile bike ride to the HQ Church where the bible school was.

As I was about to leave the house, something impressed me to stop and pray for my physical protection. I had a serious prayer meeting right there. After I felt like I had prayed thru whatever that was, I got on my bicycle and took off. About half way to the church, I was hit by a car! It was a pretty hard hit, but my bike just jumped about 10 or 15 feet and I was still rolling. Not a scratch on me or the bike!

Those are amazing testimonies, thank you for that! Do you think you could give me a little insight on what one feels discerning spiritual attacks? I understand it's a gift from God, I'm just curious.
