okay I knocked myself for the last two years researching, studying and writing for a Master's and I could have just paid a few hundred bucks..lol....go figure.
The degree thing is one thing. Many Bible colleges and seminaries especially Apostolic are not accredited by a Regional accreditation board. Usually some just get it under a vocational accreditation and add their Bible degrees to it. It used to have to do with accepting the trinity doctrine or not. There are those who are getting accredited(finally) but its just recent. That is why you had to go to secular college and Bible college and the Bible college credits did not transfer.
Just look at this. How did I come upon this? I met a counselor who actually had a masters from Clemson but look at the ministers credentials they had.......
Just think I could have had that reverend doctor title!
Incidentally do you guys know what those online schools are charging for an MBA? DeVry University charges almost 40,ooo.oo. I took a look at that and decided its easier to drive and sacrifice. I am 49 so in the next 15 years am I going to make enough to warrant paying them that???? I doubt it. Those places should have some kind of regulations on what they can charge. Its robbery.

That's just ordination. Not the same thing as having a degree.
As far as degrees go..we aren't talking about the Law or Chemestry..you don't need trig or calculus..
I believe many ministers just want the title to back up what they've already learned over the course of several years in practical application or self study. Call it a pride thing but in this day and age when people decide they'd rather go to a church down the street where "Dr Paul" is teaching, in order to compete you'll need to be both educated in biblical matters and have that title
Some people actually get a more indepth education which includes other topics such as languages, history and textual criticism. Unless you plan on being published in a major periodicals, teaching at Universities,translating your own bible and or publishing books...getting an extended Seminary education might just seem like a waste of time to many
Consider also that a full time Pastor has little time to go to a seminary full time for 10 years

The University of Pennsylvania is keeping mum on the resignation of a dean of its graduate school, who duped the Ivy League school into believing he had a doctoral degree from Columbia University.
