Is Jack Chick Correct?

The story below seems to imply that if someone sees a Christian make a mistake, that person will never be saved because of the bad taste in his mouth.

In one of his booklets it describes a boss who had an employee who was a Christian. The boss was on the verge of becoming a Christian himself because he liked what he saw in his employee, always arrived early, stayed late, and did good work. This left a good impression on the boss. Then one day the employee realized he forgot to pick up some paperclips at the store, so he took some from the office intending to replace them the next day. Unbeknownest to him, the boss saw him put them in his pocket (not realizing his intention to replace them). This horrified the boss and he decided that if that's what Christians are like, it would be a frosty Friday in Hell before he would convert, and he decided to fire him at the next meeting. He didn't say anything to him about it in the story.

I think the employee used bad judgment in borrowing the paperclips without asking, but it seems a stretch to imply that the boss will never be saved.

Unfortunately, the story left it at that. I wish it would have shown the employee replacing the paperclips the next day and how the boss reacted to it.

Re: Is Jack Chick Correct?

This sort of ties in to other threads about using fear as the prime motivator for salvation. Jack Chicks comics are a prime example of this. Our church had them all over the place! (It was amazing how Acts 2:38 was thrown out the window -sorta, when someone who wasn't OP helped further specific church "holiness" doctrine.)

We're all responsible for ourselves. If THAT is the thing that kept this man from becoming a christian then he more then likely never intended to give his life to Christ anyway and was looking for an excuse not to.

Re: Is Jack Chick Correct?

Chick had some comics about the Jesuits and how the Catholic church was behind all the conspiracies. He highlighted Alberto Rivera whom I personally met and found to be a fabricator of "facts". Sister Charlotte, the ex-nun, was reported by him to have gone missing after contacting him. I personally knew the woman with whom charlotte ministered, and Charlotte never went missing but died of old age in Napa, CA. I have a photo of her gravesite. Alberto lied.

Re: Is Jack Chick Correct?

Jack Chick tracts are not my favorites, BUT I get the point of this one, which is: People are watching what you do, especially if you claim to be a Christian, and they are making judgments whether you know it or not (or like it or not). We can't be perfect, but we should strive to be Christlike in every situation so that we represent Him well.

I think it's quite a stretch to think someone would lose their salvation over a man borrowing a paperclip.
