Romney won't sign Pro-life Pledge

Quote:
Our colleague Kendra Marr reports that Mitt Romney won't sign a pledge from the anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List to move that issue forward if elected:

“Governor Romney pledged in the last campaign that he would be a pro-life president and of course he pledges it today,” said spokeswoman Andrea Saul in a statement. “However, this well-intentioned effort has some potentially unforeseen consequences and he does not feel he could in good conscience sign it. Gov. Romney has been a strong supporter of the SBA List in the past and he looks forward to continue working with them to promote a culture of life.”

Saul said that Romney, who publicly supported abortion rights in his 1994 Senate and 2002 gubernatorial campaigns, was concerned that the pledge would “strip taxpayer funding from thousands of health care facilities” and that it “strictly limits the choices” in appointing federal officials.

Rick Santorum, a social issues warrior during his days in the Senate who's among the most staunchly pro-life candidates in the field, seized the opportunity that he'd passed up in person during this week's debate:

“This past Monday night at the Republican Presidential Debate, I was asked about Governor Romney’s pro-life conversion, and I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I apparently spoke too soon. It is incredibly disappointing that Governor Romney chose not to defend those who cannot defend themselves."

It's another sign of a more engaged Republican battle as the candidates seek to define themselves.

Why JD ? you cant possibly know all that much about him or his family, since your in FLA and he is in Massachussets. He is a businessman first and foremost and has infinitely more leadership skills than Oby.If you had seen him take over the Bid Dig fiasco you would have seen how he instantly grasped the construction techniques or lack of in that disaster and the leadership he showed. My deal with him is he invented Romneycare which like obamacare(virtually the same)has been a disaster,as has the phony health plan in my state (which the state promotes, but never pays the bills to the hospitals)

RHINO

No the bottom line is our east coast and west coast Republican liberals. They can get some Dem votes by being more liberal.

None can win all of America,

Trump, romney, Guilani, Newt, still pop up. They don't have conservatiove values on abortion, taxes, the contsitution, growth and limited gubment. They worstest most recen one is Gov Californicator in california.
