You have to get a TWIC card to work in any industrial facility. You know Shell, BP, etc etc?

(laughing) dude maybe you should READ the TWIC requirements and what it is for THEN come back and summarize it. You can't even be a contract welder in a chemical plant or enter a chemical plant without one.

these specific Vendors had to be checked, I.e truck drivers bringing in food for ships or supplies etc. So this was a good system todo so.

However the twic is not required for basic truck drivers, who do not transport to government facilities. nor do you have to have a twic to get a job at a factory or other industries non government related.

twic's whole purpose was to make sure the driver and the company was secure in the delivery and the person doing the delivery, and i might add these are very decently paid Jobs, you could handle the 135$

I never did government contracts. There are enough people living off the government. Guess you were one of them.

This is what I know. Every chemical plant and industrial facility on the Gulf Coast requires a TWIC card to work inside the plant for any reason. Noticed the other day that a Refinery in interior Alaska (far, far, far away from any coast) was posting jobs and part of their job posting required a TWIC card.

well after the new administration has took over, we very seldom do any work for the government.

but when bush was in the office the government was our bread and butter.

and no not everyone is required to get a twic, but i could see handeling chemicals being under that as well. also oil companies ship the oil. its another one that falls under the maritime

Now I will be serious. Here is my original point. As you said, government sites are government owned. They can set up any security measures they want to as they see fit. Private companies after 9/11 were put under the jurisdiction of the coast guard. Not the docks, or the marine facilities - the front gates. They took over jurisdiction and simply passed the cost on to the people who worked in those facilities. For the first time in our history, private facilities and private companies are under military jurisdiction and even have to issue reports on a routine basis to the coast guard, and their employees have to get biometric identification cards from the TSA to work there.

The rules apply to everyone. Welders and fitters who are in turnaround for a few weeks and permanent employees who work there every day. So, the same people who for years have been going to work and paying taxes had to go to a government office, fill out an application, give their fingerprints, and have a card issued to them by the federal government to work their same jobs. These people were just employees who were not in the least bit dangerous the day before they got their federally issued card and not the least bit safer the day after. Their prints and their money were just taken from them. Take the card or lose your job. Sounds like taking a mark LOL

In this, America lost a little bit of what America was - and this and other things we lost were lost to Osama and what Osama stood for. Nobody on this thread, not me and certainly not the original poster, is celebrating about this. It is nothing to celebrate. Why do you think extremists hate America? It is because of what America stands for. They would like nothing better than to make America like everywhere else, less freedom, less privacy, less and less and less. They are winning by having these things taken down brick by brick.
