That sounds like the spirit of the Fundamental Doctrine Statement, a Gentlemen's Agreement made in 1945 by a large OP group.

Wow true, huh?
You know, was that agreement doomed to failure from the beginning, I wonder? I mean, when the difference primarily is what is needed for salvation, and one side of the group essentially teaching that the other side of the group isn't saved......and that's what they taught whether it was explicitly said or not.....did the agreement ever truly have a fighting chance?

I guess it depended on the honor and integrity of the people who signed up for it.

I don't see how it could have possibly survived, but apparently the founders thought that it could.

Evidently they did or at least, some of them did. The "Saved by grace" crowd would have viewed the "New Birth" crowd as saved but the opposite wouldn't have been true, would it? I'm sure I'm not the first one to ever think of that but it had never really struck me until just now.

Yea, I don't get that either. And the name is rather suspect being that DA is involved.

My understanding is that DA had registered the AI name some time back with the intention of developing something akin to his Holy Magic Hair site - a site devoted to a particular theme where he would express himself in a blog style (like the HMH site only on a different topic).
Over time that never really gelled but he still retained the URL. In time Griff, DA and some others apparently were talking about trying a new forum - but what URL would they use? Well, DA had this one parked so why not use it?

Right, that's what I thought. Thanks for not denying the intention.

I really have nothing to avow nor to deny on this. DA's original intention for the URL simply never panned out. How many sites and blogs can a single human being maintain while working full time and raising a family?
Later, when Griff, Baron and others who never had the motivation for DA's original vision for the URL were talking about doing a forum, DA offered the URL he had already registered but had never used.

I understand. But, regardless of the fact, the intention remains. I don't believe I could, in good conscience, be involved in that. Discussing scripture is totally different than attacking a group of people. Not a fight I would relish or feel was right. JMO.
