The cross is not like a tie that you take out of your closet if it best matches the image you are
trying to portray; it is the very foundation that we must build our Christian lives upon ~ Malvaro

The Love of Calvary

Interesting thoughts of Christ's love for me flashed through my simplistic mind
Gazing at the scene of the cross, I realized that He didn't have to be so kind

In a world of darkness that showed Him no love, He became the bright Light
Knowing that one day, all who would believe on Him would again receive sight

Every step up Golgotha's steep hill was a choice of love in spite of intense pain
Just a single drop of His blood would bring grace down like showers of cool rain

Another place, that being the Temple, the vail curtain from top to bottom rend
In the act of calvary's sacrifice, the Beginning had brought sin to it's final End

Alpha and Omega, and Great I am - His long list of victories had again grown
As a mighty angel pronounced, He has risen!!! - from the greatest rolling stone

It’s a wonderful thought, that our dark sins can be washed as white as snow
How in an upper-room, a mighty rushing wind of the Spirit first began to blow

On the day of Pentecost, the Promise of the Father fell on them like flames of fire
Looking back to that day, it is obvious that His unmeasurable mercy will never tire

Everytime I fail and fall, and my heavy heart feels the guilt of having sinned
Looking to the sky, I remember that He can cast my sin to the Eastern wind

Only through the blood of calvary can your sins be washed, and your needs tend
Thanks be to Jesus, my loving Savior. His blood was shed for you too, my friend.

Exodus 15:22 - 26 (KJV) 22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. 23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. 24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, 26 And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
The cross makes sweet the bitter waters of life.

All God's plans have the mark of the cross on them, and all His plans
have death to self in them.
~ E. M Bounds

Jesus came to raise the dead. He did not come to teach the teachable;
He did not come to improve the improvable; He did not come to reform
the reformable. None of those things works.
~ Robert Farrer Capon

The Blood deals with what we have done, whereas the Cross deals with
what we are. The Blood disposes of our sins, while the Cross strikes at
the root of our capacity for sin.
~ Watchman Nee

Nothing more important than the work of the cross!

If we could realize we died WITH HIM and were buried WITH HIM and were resurrected WITH HIM, and were ascended WITH HIM and seated together WITH HIM at the right hand of God, we would be absolute powerhouses for God to use. It all starts with the cross.

Re: The Cross

But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Galatians 6:14 NKJV

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Galatians 2:20 NKJV
