Ok to Urinate on the Taliban?
What's your opinion?
Should the U.S. Marines who in fact did urinate on the corpses of Taliban fighters be PROSECUTED?
Why or why not?

Re: Ok to Urinate on the Taliban?
We should prosecute them. It was clearly stepping over the line.

Re: Ok to Urinate on the Taliban?
Ret. Lt. Col. Allen West
“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?
“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

Which aspect of the event was stepping over the line?
The act?
The video taping?
Posting the video tape on line for the world to see?
One more question-- what line was stepped over?

The act was disgusting and and sophomoric. It is only going to reinforce their negative opinion of us.
Personally, it crossed a line of moral decency for me. It was just such a stupid and needless thing to do, showing no honor. I don't want people with that mindset to represent our country.

War is hell, but his logic would lead us down the road of repeating the "mistakes" of Vietnam all over again.
Their actions warrant more than an NJP. There is a sense of honor that the American warrior is supposed to have that separates our conduct from the barbarism of the Somali's and other un-civilized fighters.
Should they be prosecuted?

What should they be prosecuted for-- what law did they violate?
Who's laws did they violate?
Who should prosecute them?

We should prosecute them, not sure what they could be prosecuted with. I am assuming the military could prosecute them for conduct not befitting a military officer/soldier or something similar.

Re: Ok to Urinate on the Taliban?
This is an international incident, happening on the soil of Afghanistan.
What if there isn't a law on their books to address this?
Is there an American law violated when we urinate on a person?
Is it possible to assault a dead person?

So you think their actions are befitting a courts martial-- a career ending punishment?
