The minister went on and on, ranting and railing about the backslidden condition of the church and how it looked like nobody but he and maybe some of his family might make it. As his sermon reached a crescendo, he shouted, "The two worst problems in the Church today are ignorance and apathy." He paused dramatically and the crowd sat in silence as they cowered in their seats. Looking around at the quiet congregation, he thundered again, "The two worst problems in the Church today are ignorance and apathy." He pointed to a deacon in the front row and said, "Ain't that right, brother?" The deacon answered, "I don't know and I don't care."
