Well, he was eligible to run, was my point. We already know why he lost. It was the perception people had of him. Had nothing to do with him being in the House of Representatives.

Eligibility is the last thing on my mind. Hey, we let Obama win didnt we?
It aint about who can.. its about what chance does one have.
There has only been one person in American history to win the whitehouse with only Member of House on the Resume.
Abe Lincoln.... short list although a good name....
being a House member is not a good springboard and when this thing settles out, I am thinking the big knock on Obama will be his lack of experience and the impact to America.
So Executive Experience will be a huge factor. Or at the least lots of Gov. experience.

Point taken. That is probably why Mike Pence said he could do more good staying where he was.
So, who do you have your sights on in the Senate or a Governorship? Some are saying Rick Perry, but I'm not sure about that one.
On a side note, I see that Nebraska is stepping up, like Texas, on education - wanting correction on the Global Warming farce before they will implement any textbooks. Stepping up on immigration reform concerning jobs and renting. Very happy to see that.
Still watching Michigan for signs of something good coming out of that state. California is in big time trouble. Talked to someone today and they are saying they may need to bail because of the immigration stuff going on.
Running against a sitting president, you don't want to necessarily play your "best cards" - especially right after has neutered the Iranians. The Bog O's going to be riding a lot higher than most people expect this fall - unless he bungles this badly, in which case you and I could probably win against him in 2012.
Newt is a great ideas guy and remember what he accomplished in 1994 - that was unprecedented. It was also a couple of wives ago, so that still lingers. Fred is a class act. Either of these guys could make Obama look seriously foolish in a televised debate.
I guess my vision is going out as well... What I meant was,
1."especially right after he (the President) has neutered the Iranians" (nuclear capability).
2. "Big O" and not "Bog O". No disrespect to the President. Just a typo.
Newt and Barry - roll up their sleeves and just have it out in the arena of ideas. It would be great! I can see both of them having great fun as well. It could be the setting for something historic, like Lincoln/Douglas.
I like Newt. If I could waive a wand and make someone president it would be Newt.
in a head to had however, Newt has lots of bagage.
BUT in a debate, he would clean the floor with Obama. It might be so bad that he would be knocked for picking on the guy.
I think Fred is done.
I was thinking Fred as the savvy old warrior type who is rock solid to compliment Newt's rather mercurial private reputation.
And besides, most of the stuff about Newt is exaggerated. He's not "pristine" - but then he doesn't claim to be personally. I sort of trust guys (and gals?) who have "erred" and are open about it. That's one thing I never beat up Limbaugh about either - Rush already beats himself up mercilessly when it comes to his own failures at marriage.
It's the self righteous puritanical "do gooder" that I'm uncomfortable with in a position of political power. That's how the Dems play it. Publicly their "open marriages" are long lasting "relationships" - while privately their all a bunch of satyrs.
I much prefer the guy who has all of his cards on the table over the guy who has his interns on his desk.
I agree. The two party way does limit us at times and to build a winning coalition on either side we need to take on many of those that we also have real disagreements with. But, going to a broader multi-party system invites a parliamentarian type of system.
When somebody pulls out of a coalition with the Dems or Repubs it's no big deal. The government stays in power until the next election. In a parliamentarian system you have a government that could "collapse" at any moment. Our way isn't perfect, but it is much more stable.

This country is in a mess!
Honestly I see slim pickins on the republican side. There are some good Governors but you have to stand next to a slick talking fool to win. (Obama)
If Jindal keeps it up he is going to build a great reputation with this oil spill. It might put him in the Whitehouse. His Resume is outstanding.
Pawlinty (sp) looks pretty good but not sure about him.
IF (and it is a big IF) things go really south economically Obama wont have a chance. in that scenario Newt will try really hard to get the nomination. I think Newt knows his only chance is if Obama really makes a mess of things.
Palin will be in it. (I dont like her). I dont see anyone from the Senate that can really win. Americans like Governors.
Oh and I do NOT like Rick Perry. I think he will run but I dont think he can or should win.
